What DVC resort do you NOT like?

I don't care for resorts based on golf courses, as I don't play golf and don't want to have a golf course as landscaping. If it had an interesting theme separate from golf, it might be OK.

But with 500+ units at OKW and as many as 800 units at SSR, I don't think we will soon need any more resorts built away from hotel and parks. Those 1300 units ought to be adequate to meet the demand for that. My first choice would be Polynesian Villas as I still love the Polynesian resort. But I doubt that will ever happen. I guess I'll settle for VCR (sigh).

I have stayed at all the DVC resorts with the exception of SSR. I dont like Vero AT ALL. We may give it one more chance in a couple of years.... maybe...

Well, that's understandable. I never thought about that many rooms being "golf" related. Really, even though LBV runs through OKW, I think of OKW as more Carribbean-styled than associating it with golf.

I too think the Poly would be a great place for a DVC, even more so than the Contemporary.

I agree with the famous Rich Hyams. OKW is " the only true DVC resort ".
Do you mean a true DVC resort is one that was not built or connected to a non DVC resort? If so, SSR was also built as total DVC resort. Still am confused as how a DVC resort that is sold as a DVC resort and accepts point reservations is not a true DVC resort.
I am really puzzled over this one. Can you please explain.

I'll go with Eagle Pines as well. Don't want another Mega Resort. At least not yet.

OK, based on where I've stayed or visited, my order of most favorite to least favorite is:

1. BWV
2. BCV
3. OKW
4. VWL
5. SSR

Only number 5 could I see myself never staying at.

BillM was quoting a phrase often used by a colorful character who posted often on these boards, and who recently passed away at far too young an age. Rich used to love to tell anyone that OKW was the only "true DVC resort", just to raise their hackles.

So I'm sure it was just meant as a bit of jocularity, and as a tribute. :)

I purchased SSR but have yet to stay there. We figure we have 50 years to stay there so whenever possible we will stay elsewhere. Besides, the construction might irritate me.

So far I've only stayed at BWV and OKW and I love them both for different reasons. We have been to a lot of other resorts and have never had a bad time.

They all rock in our opinion!!

I'll check in from The Luxor in Vegas (work, not pleasure)...

Favorite to least favorite:

1) VWL
2) VB
3) BCV
4) SSR & OKW (tied)
5)
6) HH
7) BWV

I just don't care for the theme at BWV.

HH was nice, but I was a little surprised how the resort was almost intertwined with other properties. :drinking:

I just noticed the past 2 comments about VWL being far from the main lodge. Just wondering, we have never stayed at BWV or BCV. Are either of these resorts closer to the lobby than VWL?

The lobby IS in the BWV!

The BC lobby is about the same distance from the BC as the WL lobby is from the VWL. If pressed, I would say the VWL is a little further.

And both are closer or equidistant than any of the OKW or SSR buildings are to their lobbies/main houses.

My least favorite is OKW. Just seems like any Florida resort to me, I don't like the calypso music at the pool, and I don't like the room decor.

I doubt I will ever stay at SSR.

I like the hotel style resorts much better, along with all of the amenities you get with a deluxe resort - more restaurants, valet, better exercise room etc.

LOL, that depends on which room you are in. You could be a LONG hall away from the lobby at BWV and just a few steps from a bus stop to get to HH at OKW or SSR. :teeth: (please take this in the manner in which it was intended...tongue in cheek.)

We "like" all the resorts (never been to HH). But most likely in order from least to most:

1) HH-we bought DVC because we like FL and WDW.
2) VB-we bought DVC because we like FL and WDW.
3) OKW-we get enough buses and cars in Minneapolis.
4) SSR-we get enough buses and cars in Minneapolis but DTD may help.
4) VWL-nothing negative just not close to EPCOT area, good food court, boat to MK and CR, beyond beautiful, in some ways its the best but cant quite beat EPCOT resorts locations.
5) BWV-nothing negative, great location and BWV View guarantee but just edged out by BCV.
6) BCV-nothing negative, great location, SAB, Beach, Beaches and Cream, close food court and great resale/demand.

Can't comment on HH...would only stay at Fla. resorts. I would have to say SSR for no reason than its right off the road there, and you can see the strip of hotels. Doesn't have that isolated feeling like the rest. I loved the look of the rooms though. There isn't one I would refuse to day at in WDW. Its kinda cool that there isn't one resort that is everyone's favorite here, which kinda gives everyone a chance to try them all in the future. Someone seems to love or hate them all.

I think I would have to say VB and HH because they are not in WDW (not for any other reasons-I have never been to either one). I'm sure they are lovely, but we bought DVC to always stay in WDW. :sunny:

Very interesting thread. I have only stayed at OKW (2 bedroom). WL and at the BC but not in villas. Loved them all. Everyone is different and that is what makes DVC so wonderful. The opportunity it can give to its members. Now if ROFR will get a move-on I can finally be apart of this!!!!

We haven't stayed at either HH or VB, so can't comment on those.

Have stayed at all onsite DVC resorts except OKW. That being said, my list from most least favorite to most favorite would be:

1. SSR
2. BWV
3. BCV
4. VWL

We just returned from SSR about two weeks ago, and we just felt that it was too spread out. The walk from our room, (last bldg. in Congress Park) to the main pool was farther than the walk from VWL to the main lobby I'm sure! DH and I really like the woodsy feel at VWL. We also like the quiet atmosphere there. BWV and the nightlife there isn't for us. All other parts of WDW remind us that we're in Florida. It's nice to have that feel of getting away to another place at VWL.

We are staying at SSR in July. Then we will have been to all of them at least once. Haven't found any we don't like. Each has something great to offer. We like OKW the best but are happy at any of them! :)

While I enjoy visiting them all, I doubt we'll ever stay at Saratoga Springs. We love OKW, and it is virtually the same location (and bigger rooms, channeling RichYams here)) for less points. If I am splurging on points I'll go to Wilderness or Beach Club.

I also doubt we'll stay at Boardwalk because we have 11-month access to BCV and that wonderful pool. Love to visit Boardwalk though!

We like HH and hope to try Vero beach someday. Gosh I need more points!
