What DVC resort do you NOT like?

I have to preface my remarks with the statement that it is not the resort I dislike, but the location. Vero Beach was my least favorite. We are not "beach people." There were just not enough non-beach things around for us. The resort itself was awesome.

I don't care for VWL and have no desire to stay there.

We had dinner once at the WL and I'm sure it's a wonderful resort. But the theming just doesn't do anything for me personally.

My husband and I were talking about this today, we haven't actually stayed at any of the resorts yet but we were commenting that VWL just didn't look like something we'd like either. We decided that for us it could possibly be because we are from the northwest and when something is "northwest themed" out here it is way over the top, the pictures I've seen of VWL just look like plain old rooms with some rustic wood accents. I'm sure we'll stay there someday, but the whole northwest theme just doesn't seem real to me.

You've hit the nail on the head! I've tried to figure out what I didn't like about OKW, this is it. Too funny.

I guess that BWV is my least favorite so far. But we haven't stayed at SSR yet, so that may change. I'm just not into the boardwalk theming. And I absolutely hate the clown pool. I know most people think I'm nuts, but everytime that I see that thing it reminds me of the movie "It". But that is what is great about DVC, one man's least favortie is another man's most favorite.

There are none so far that we do not like. Have not been to HH or SSR (next January!) yet. But if we force rank them favorite to least favorite --

1. OKW - top DVC resort for us (tied with Poly and AKL as top WDW resorts)

2. BCV
3. VWL

4. VB
5. BWV

6. SSR
7. HH

The gaps are intentional. For example 2 and 3 are close in our minds but are clearly a different level from OKW. The resorts at the bottom are not bad, and I expect to enjoy stays at each in the future. But the attributes that put them at the bottom for us are location at HH (too far from the Disney action); and least interesting, loss of old DI at SSR.

They all are nice in different ways, but if I had to pick, just don't like BWV. Don't like the themeing.

I'll bet you stayed in a Studio. Stay in an OKW 1-B/R or larger unit sometime and you'll probably change your mind. The 1-B/R villas at all the other resorts pale in comparison to the 1-B/R at OKW.

Just a note to those who think SSR is lacking and maybe not your favorite. I was told by our guide that SSR is not finished yet. In the final phase, or when the resort will be completed DVC plans on adding some additional amenities to the resort. One hint he gave me was the potential for the DVC welcome center. There is an area that shows advertisement promos for potential DVC members. He said this area may turn into a movie theatre for resort guests complete with snack bar and popcorn. They would show new and classic Disney movies in the theatre. That would be cool. He said there were some other "things" in the works, but would not comment any further.

IMHO, resort amenities are extremely important during our stay. Theming and location are important as well. I honestly think SSR is going to become much better than it is today when it is finished.

I love being a DVC member. Definitely one of the smartest things I could have ever done! OKW is probably my least fav. It seems a little out dated and far away! Boardwalk and Beach Club have the right idea, right in the middle of everything plus they look great!

We like them all. That's not to say we don't have a favorite, but I've never been disappointed staying at any of the DVC resorts. So I guess I can't answer the question about which one I dislike.

Our first DVC vacation was last June at VWL and I was somewhat disappointed. I love the theming of the Wilderness Lodge and have always wanted to stay there. I found the pools to be very, very crowded. I will admit that I didn't take full advantage of the DVC 'lifestyle" while we were there so that may have contributed to some of my disappointment. As we take more DVC vacations, I am finding that we settle into a groove and have very enjoyable times. Maybe I'll give VWL another try someday.

I don't have a least favorite. But we don't like "hotel resorts. So that takes care of three at DW.
I agree with the famous Rich Hyams. OKW is " the only true DVC resort ".

VWL is our least favourite then OKW. VWL because it is to far away from the ammenities of the main resort which is also true of OKW but OKW is because we feel like we are stuck at a retirement home.

Be patient, it will grow on you. You'll be retired sooner than you think, and will be coming here from the retirement home to rock......in the rocking chair. They're located on the porch at check-in.

LOL @ manning nope when I retire I will spend my free time at the race track on my racebike or on a boat fishing then the nights will be at BWV or DTD and SSR.

Why do you feel that way? Is it the location or would you just prefer a DVC associated with another resort or on the monorail?
