What don't you like to eat....

Well, the truth is that there is very little in the way of meal food at DL that I like that much. I find it ok but there is nothing I pine for when not there, LOL. There are a few items I do love, but most are snacks. I don't mind, though, because I'm not much of a foodie anyway and am perfectly happy to eat Mickey truffles, caramel apples, Haagen Daz and cinnamon rolls :rolleyes1

What I'm about to say may get me kicked off the disboards but...I don't like Dole Whips. I'm not crazy about pineapple and I tried one once and it tasted like bad kids medicine.

I don't care for the dole whips either (and I do really like pineapple!). :)

Village Haus is currently closed for refurb. I don't know what the menu will be like when it reopens, so current opinions my not be valid.

These kind of threads are so funny and interesting because people "love" or "hate" foods that others "hate" or "love."

As for me, I don't eat churros anywhere - ugh, but I love the turkey legs, they are a real indulgence! I don't eat beignets or monte cristos and don't care for the tigger tails or most of the candy. HOWEVER I enjoy the rock hard Mickey ice cream bars, and, in season, the gingerbread people. I like Dole whips and the bengal bbq skewers are okay. Also like the baked potato up by the Princess area outside toontown. Do not like the soup in a bread bowl - neither the soup, nor the bowl. I sure like whitewater snacks food and the location is good.

That Village Haus has closed before for refurb and never opened with anything edible, lol, but maybe this time will be different!

Well, as you see, I like some things others find repugnant, and don't like a few foods that some folks would really miss - so its a good thing we have a choice!~

I agree so totally that it is funny that we all seem to feel that Village Haus is not good. If they reopen with a tasty menu, that will be some fun news!:hippie:

I avoid DL coffee like the plague. I didn't believe how bad it was till I had the misfortune last week of craving a coffee in DL and decided to buy some coffee from one of the carts. It was some of the worst coffee I've ever had, and had to toss it after drinking 1/4 of it. From that point on I switched to the coffee machine in my hotel in HOJO's which it's pretty bad when the hotel that you are staying at has better coffee than what's in the parks.

There have been different posts from many coffee lovers regarding DL coffee. I still can not understand why they wouldn't improve the coffee,my only guess is they don't get enough complains and coffee sales are good :confused3

This may surprise a few people, but I actually didn't end up liking the Pomme Frittes at Cafe Orleans. The first couple were good, but there was just waaaay too much parmesan cheese for my liking. And it the more we ate the more cheese there was sitting at the bottom. The beignets on the other hand were delicious!!!!

We didn't like our pomme frittes either the one time we tried them. I had way better garlic fries at the Jazz Kitchen in DtD. Honestly, we didn't like any of our Cafe Orleans food during our visit and have never returned to that restaurant. We didn't get the beignets though, sounds like I should have; that might have alleviated some of the disappointment about our experience there.

Village Haus & Hungry Bear top our list as a family. I'm not a burger eater, so I can take it or leave it. But my father has complained about Hungry Bear for the last 25 years. :rotfl:

Though the kids love it, the adults really aren't big fans of Rainforest Cafe.

I tried the Monte Cristo 2 years ago after not having it for 15 years...I could not handle it. It just sat in my stomach...ugh.

Other than Carnation Cafe and Cafe Orleans, we prefer to eat in Downtown Disney or one of the DLR hotels.

there is a place in nos that does bread bowls with gumbo.....

i refuse to eat there.. i had one once not so great :crazy2:

In ALL my trips to DL, I have NEVER eaten at Carnation Cafe! Will have to do that either in November or March.....

I do like the corn dogs. A LOT. The other MUST HAVE for me is cotton candy....

This is funny how some can LOVE one thing and others HATE it!!!

I personally love those churro's. I have eaten at the Carnation Restaurant every time I've gone to Disneyland (6 times) and I've loved it every time.
Am always too cheap to pay for the BB. I kind of look in and want to but it just seems too much. Maybe this time!!!! IN 19 SLEEPS:cool1: I'm also never really very hungry til I get back to the hotel and then usually eat off site. I also find it hard to make time to eat!!!!

:dance3:

I've had a good corn dog over at the Corn Dog Castle in DCA years ago...heard good things about the corn dogs from the Little Red Wagon, but also heard that they now serve the "same" corn dogs at Stage Door Cafe. Well last week I was in Frontierland and decided to get one. Oh man, it was the greasiest corn dog I've ever had. Like seriously, when I took a bite my mouth would literally fill up with grease. Very disappointing, I'm hoping that it was just an off batch and those weren't really the corn dogs everyone raves about.

A lot of things can just be hit or miss...I've had the same items multiple times and sometimes it tastes good and sometimes not so good. If anything I wish the food was more consistent.

I have to admit, after hearing so much about the beloved tiger tails, I finally tried one on our last trip and was not impressed. I love marshmellow candy so I thought for sure I would fall in love, but.....just didn't happen. They are lovely too look at though!

Don't care for:

Bengal BBQ-chicken always seems raw and such little portions, I think it is a bad value! My family likes them and we usually go there as we are starving and don't want to take time for a ts meal!

Coffee -Blech! We have ordered coffee drinks at the bakery on Main St. Takes forever, overpriced and yuck!

Naples pizza is like cardboard and even my kids wouldn't eat it! However at the takeout side we ordered a macaroni and cheese and a dough -knot and it was huge and yummy!

Blue Bayou- Couldn't even see the boats and we sat on the waterside! Service poor, Food highly overpriced for the quality! They did let my
DD13 order a kids meal and the monte cristo was good!

Do you take the monorail or walk to DTD? Does it take much longer than eatiing the parks?

We usually walk and more times than not staying onsite. But we won't be in December, so I'm curious to see if that trend continues. In trips past, we'd go back to the hotel for pool/rest time and have dinner before heading back into the parks. If you were considering ESPN or Rainforest Cafe then the Monorail would make more sense. Oh and I always have a PS for every meal, but I'm an over planner. ;)

My family and I will never eat at Naples ever again! The pizza tasted like something we could buy in the freezer section at Safeway and their service is horrible.

I personally don't like the Jazz Kitchen either. Overpriced (although what isn't at DLR) and not very good.

Amen! to the bolded. I ended up eating an entire bag of Doritos instead of that pizza. Bleh!

Veggie Po' Boy at Riverbelle Terrace.. it was unappetizing and disappointing.
Naples.. I had pasta, nothing to get excited about. My friend had to send hers back because the chicken was not cooked through.
Blue Bayou.. not worth the fuss for the price, and we got seated at a table next to the kitchen door.

I love Rancho del Zocalo, but as much for the atmosphere as the food.
