that may be considered weird for a toddler?
My 2.5yr old eats
1. Blue cheese (not the dressing, the crumbled cheese) when we are at a restaurant I have to get it for her in a little cup. The waitstaff can never believe she likes it.

2. Sushi, she loves salmon rolls.

What does your little one eat that makes people go Hmmmmm?

Caesar salad is a favorite for both kids, they loved all veggies except brussel sprouts (but will even eat those). They will try just about anything!

LOL! I don't even eat sushi. Funny story though. I was at Trader Joes the other day and these two kids (around 3-4) were pushing around the little kid cart and the one was talking to the other one about sushi. I just thought it was cute. Then as we were walking back to our car I saw the kids again sitting in the back of their volvo station wagon with their mom eating the sushi for lunch. :rotfl: Granted, I don't eat sushi, but it would never occur to me to give it to my kids.

My 2 year old will pass on desert in favor of fruit. He especially likes strawberries and oranges. I have to limit him to 2-3 oranges a day. He'd eat two at each meal if I'd let him. His ideal diet would be oranges, apricots, strawberries, sweet potatoes, and carrots. The bottoms of his hands and feet are frequently orange because of his diet.

DD is 5yo now - quite grown up ;) - but ever since she was little she has loved Japanese food. We go to a family owned place where I can get really good sushi and she eats Miso soup, udon noodles and teri yaki. Then, she finishes up with Mango Mochi. This is a child who eats very little (only weighs 35lbs) but she loves her Japanese food!

My daughters are grown but when they were toddlers they would eat sushi all the time. Salmon, tuna and yellowtail were favorites. And miso soup as well. They have always loved Japanese food. I guess because I love it and served to them from the beginning.

The kids i babysit love Brocolli, pot stickers, diet coke...;)

Anything in sight:rotfl2:. Some examples: tomatos, salsa, enchiladas, beans, rice, egg rolls, chicken lo mein, fish, shrimp, crab, calamari. Basically, they eat what ever we're having.

My niece loves barbecue ribs. I don't know if that's weird for a toddler, but the photos of her chewing on a rib are hilarious.

My daughter would eat Fig Newtons by the box full. She still does at 10 over any cookie.

My 3 year old loves hot salsa. If we go out he will dip the chips in hot salsa and it doesn't even phase him. He loves it.

My daughter loved lemons. We would give her the lemons out of drinks and she would suck on them and still loves "sour" candies and flavors today.

My DD2 doesn't eat anything but the basics. My 3 year old niece, though will eat roasted red peppers, lamb, brussel sprouts, and she loves to have a small cup of coffee at night. :confused3

My youngest DS, almost 2 loves roasted pork, grilled shrimp and enjoys a small plate of salad

My 4 year old likes hot sauce, hot salsa, and lemons. I craved a lot of spicy mexican food with hot sauce when I was pregnant, so maybe that is why? :confused3

He will also eat milkbones if you don't keep them out of his reach! :rotfl:

ETA: How could I forget, he also loves Starbuck's decaf java-chip frappacinos.

Great thread! :disrocks:

My boyfriend and I have had serious discussions regarding how we want to raise our kids with the mindset of trying new foods as a good thing. My two nephews were ridiculously picky eaters and we want to stop that from happening right away, if possible. We plan on introducing sushi, calamari, meats, and anything we are having ourselves. My boyfriend grew up with parents who would tell him, "Just try it. If you do not like it, you can spit it out!" and this is what we will support as well.

Congrats to all of you already doing this! :)

Paul's all time favorite foods - avacado slices, tomato slices, and pickles (all kinds.)

Oh wait, I forgot to mention she has to eat her sushi with chopsticks :rotfl: she doesn't hold them correctly at all but that doesn't stop her from trying :teeth: She just started eating brocolli too and we are very excited about that. We didn't know how we were gonna get her to start eating her veggies.
