What does UPS do if you put the wrong address

on a package? I accidentally put 72 instead of 74 on a package and get this on the UPS site:

A CORRECT STREET NUMBER IS NEEDED FOR DELIVERY. UPS IS ATTEMPTING TO OBTAIN THIS INFORMATION

Why don't they just CALL ME? My number is on the slip!

My experience with them is that they are great at contacting the sender or receiver for more information when needed but that my just be my local UPS guys. Why don't you call the local office for where the package is to be delivered? They should be able to update the address on the package for you and make sure it gets to the proper destination. I have even called them before to completely change the address so the package could be delivered to a business address instead of a personal address and didn't have any problems at all.

I know where I work, we have been called to verify our address before. I would think that they may have contacted the recipient.

Sometimes they call me. Sometimes they figure it out themselves and then bill me $5.00 for each address correction.

And sometimes they just return the package.

And sometimes they just leave the package at the address you have written.
