"How might you account for the ending popularity of Beowulf? Would you recommend it to a friend? Why or why not?"

Obviously I understand that last two sentences, but the first confuses me. I think I have an idea but I don't know how to word it properly?

TIA.

are you trying to answer the question? i think I might be able to help you.

Huh.
That is an awkwardly worded question... is it why the story was so popular for its day?

I could pull out my Brit Lit book for you :p It's the first story we studied.

I'm pretty sure that it's asking why do you think nobody cares about Beowulf anymore.

thats awkwardly worded. is it asking "how would you explain the popularity of beowulf?"

i can't help with the answer, i never read beowulf. ;)

Was Beowulf a popular book? Or popular in any way? I've never read it, I guess I'm not much help

The way I took it was "How would you describe how popular the ending of Beowulf was?" but that doesn't make sense to me.

I took it as, "How can you explain Beowulf's waning popularity?". Odd question.

"Why isn't Beowulf as popular these days as it was a long time ago?"
Is what I got from that.

I personally didn't like Beowulf at all. I got the same thing as of why did the popularity of it end. I think because since Beowulf was told in like a song form in mead halls people kept hearing different versions and it lost appeal to them.

This is for Honors English 11. I had to read that and Grendel for summer reading. However, my schedule got screwed up and it wasn't set in stone that I have this honors class until 2 weeks ago. I have to do this giant packet and 2 essays by Jan 15 and that question was holding me back.

I didn't like Beowulf either, but at least Grendel was tolerable.

Yeah I think it's talking about why do you think Beowulf isn't as popular anymore.
I had to read that book in 7th grade and I didn't like it at all.
