what does this mean? (adaware)

We fianally seem to have our computer working the way it should but the other nite after I was done with everything and running the sites to get rid of everything that shouldn't be on the computer.

Everything was going good until I ran adaware.

It found 6 things and when I went into to see what they were all of them came up:

possible browser/hijack attempt

risk level medium


control/redirect the browser

blacklisted site


None of this sounds good so Im glade I could get rid of it but what does this mean?

I've never gotten those messages, but they sure don't sound good . Maybe someone else can tell you exactly what they mean.

That stuff is called spyware. Basically, what is does is transmit
information from your computer, including the IP address so
that you continually get pop-ups and other trash coming to
your computer. I have a program called Spybot-Search & Destroy
that I use. Sounds like your application is very similar.
Do that about once a week. My computer always has less
problems when I get rid of the spyware or parasites as they're
called.

The browser hijack is coding that adds, say it's own search bar, to your browser. If you do a search or incorrectly enter in a url, it brings you to its own search page which they get paid for your searches. I hate these and delete them immediately!
