all table service the non-alcoholic beverage will be a choice of coffee, tea or soda - they will refill these as needed throughout the meal. Some places will allow you to get bottled water as your DDP beverage, some will not. You can get regular tap-ice water in addition to any ordered beverage, of course.
SOME table service restaurants allow smoothies or milk shakes. Le Cellier allowed smoothies, The Wave allowed milk shakes. Those drinks were non-refillable (but they were large drinks -- probably 14 oz at least.)
You have to ask whether they will allow the smoothie/milk shake option. And one place we went (cannot remember which it was) did allow smoothies, but NOT the mega-berry-smoothie. Guess it had too much expensive fruit in it or something.
I did not ever come across a restaurant that allowed a latte, cappacino or any other fancy coffee as the included beverage on the regular dining plan - you could get the regular restaurant coffee. Except when we ate breakfast on the deluxe dining at Kona Cafe - you're allowed two drinks...there they would allow you to order the press-pot coffee if you count that one pot as your "two" drinks (one press pot actually makes about 2.5 cups of coffee, and they'll give you a to-go cup if you can't finish it. Well worth using if you're wanting excellent coffee with your breakfast.)
We've gotten smoothies/milkshakes at 50's Prime Time, Sci Fi, Whispering Canyon, Kona, the Wave, Le Cellier, and maybe a few other places. I've also gotten virgin daiqueries at the Flying Fish and California Grill as my beverage.
thanks so much for all the replies...all really helpful....it sounds as if the moral of the story is to ask at each restaurant. thought it would be linked to price but obviously not because latte can be cheaper than a milkshake in some of the restaurants mentioned....once again, thanks!
