What does MCO stand for?

Before it was Orlando International Airport, the site was McCoy Air Force Base. The airport designator code MCO comes from McCoy.

The electricians that work for GOAA (Greater Orlando Aviation Authority) still have a huge floor mat that says McCoy Air Force Base. I think that may be the last thing still here from the base.

I heard that the McCoy family owned the land many years ago before the it was purchased by the US goverment.
