We have a liberal vacation and policy, depending on your position. Employees not involved in operations receive 17 paid time off days a year (sick/vacation/etc), plus 13 paid holidays, plus 40 hours (or 5 days) worth of 'other time' each year, pro-rated from date of hire. Additionally, our jury service days are paid as well as 5 bereavement days for an immediate family member.
It might take 'liberal' to the extreme, but it goes a long way to making employees feel valued.
