What Does Everyone Do For Breakfast?

We'll be at the DLH four nights in late April and I was wondering what most do for breakfast. We're planning on attending EMH (or the DL equivalent) three of those mornings. As per DH's request, NO character meals and I want to be through before the park opens. Neither of us is really interested in counter service for breakfast.

How reliable is room service at DLH? Will they be on time?

Does anyone order things like fruit or yogurt to keep in the room? Booze for a nightcap would be nice too. Any way to do this?

Also, what kind of coffee makers are in the rooms? We like to bring our own.

Thanks!

Energy bars (Clif bars are my personal favorite), and an orange. We drive in, so we bring food from home and keep it in the fridge in our hotel room. I'm not sure if the DLH has fridges or not. Of course, you don't need a fridge for a lot of items, like energy bars. If you're flying in, you could always take a walk to the CVS near the convention center when you first arrive to pick up some basics. They actually had a nice little food selection there, though nothing like a full grocery store of course. I have picked up bread, peanut butter, and jelly to keep in the room so that I can always have a "backup sandwich" in my bag at the parks.

I've also usually stayed at hotels that had continental breakfast, so I grab some bagels/fruit on the go.

Once per trip, I like to have breakfast in the parks. I usually order a Mark Twain from the Riverbelle Terrace, and enjoy a quiet, peaceful, and nearly empty view of the Rivers of America while I fuel up for the day.

We have Von's deliver (and DLH has fridges). They deliver alcohol if you are there to sign for it! You can get free delivery over 50 bucks? Something like that.

Oh, and not sure on DLH coffeemakers but GCH has the pod type ones. Like a filter packet of coffee.

Thanks for the replies! I'll pack our Community Coffee pods!

This is most likely a one and done trip for us. DH is definitely NOT a theme park guy. His suggestion for after the wedding was Yosimite but after slogging around in chest high water at Zion and experiencing the misery that is August in Death Valley last year I decided it's my turn :P Anywho, I want to make the most of the parks in the mornings. We have plans for nice lunches and dinners but I'm mostly interested in quick for breakfast.

Nice to hear that there is a fridge, I'll definitely look into an order from Von's.

Thanks again!

ETA: Should have mentioned that we (mostly I) would prefer lighter options (fruit, yogurt, cereal, etc.) over eggs and bacon.

Starbucks in DTD is a nice place to grab something as you're heading to the gates.
If you get there and the line is long, don't let that scare you away.
The Starbucks staff there have a fantastic rhythm to keep the line flowing fast and smoothly!

Not sure if the Earl of Sandwich is open for breakfast or not. They have a nice lunch meal.

We either bring some stuff with us to eat in our room or we get something at Starbucks. We eat light in the AM and then have nice lunches and dinners. For MM/EE not a whole lot is open in DTD, Starbucks is for sure and Jamba Juice might be, but most of the stuff in DTD opens at 8am.

If you're not an eggs, bacon, pancakes, waffles sort of person, save your money on the expensive room service. The room service at DLH *IS* on time and from my experience, they bring your order to your room at the time slot that you've selected from the night before (you can order the night before FYI). But it's pretty expensive.

You can place a grocery order online at Vons's website and they will deliver it to the hotel. So get some cereal, fruit, yogurt, small container of milk for your cereal, and have that in the mini-fridge and eat in your room as you're getting ready in the morning.

Yeah, I'm going to miss driving. I almost always bring an ice chest and a couple of bags of groceries when we go to WDW. I can be kind of fussy about quality, you know that woman who picks through every single apple in the bin before choosing? Well, that's me.

I've reached the point in my life where I can no longer just cram whatever cheesy, greasy, sugar coated treat that catches my fancy down my pie hole without dealing with unpleasant consequences. If I want to try the famous corn dogs or those lobster nachos I'm going to have to watch it at other times. Breakfast seems easiest to keep light. Then I can do a salad for one meal and splurge for the other!

You could order the continental breakfast from room service. We did that when we were at PPH and found it worked well for us. The first time we got two orders for the three of us (my, DH and DS) and it was more than enough for us.

Disney's Continental Breakfast, $12.99
Served with a Basket of Two Fresh Pastries and Seasonal Fresh Fruit, Freshly Brewed Coffee, Decaffeinated Coffee or Hot Tea, and Chilled Juice

I normally bring stuff to eat for breakfast (poptarts), but if we do eat somewhere for breakfast its normally at white water snacks inside the GCH or we make reservations for a restuarant. I would like to try room service this upcoming trip though, especially if I can order it the night before and have them deliver it at a certain time.

We used the door hanger order form the night before and you have to mark down the time you want the delivery, within a half hour window.

I can't recommend enough Steakhouse 55 for breakfast. It's rarely busy like a hidden gem and it's open until 11am , so if you want to me EMH then head back for a late breakfast or on checkout day if not utlizing EMH I highly recommend it.
Prices are great , food quality is awesome and service has always been attentive and friendly.

We have the same thing we have at home....coffee. Just not breakfast people.

If you're staying at DLH, try Steakhouse 55 for breakfast. It's right there, and serves full-up American breakfasts for reasonable (for DL) prices.
