what does everyone do for a living?

I am a first grade teacher and my DH is a supervisoring nuclear engineer for Duke Energy. We always go to myrtle Beach during the summer, so last year we decided to go to Disney instead of the beach--best decision we ever made:cool1: Or worst:confused3 depending on who you ask!! Cause now we (my sister and I) have the FEVER!
We are planning another trip at Thanksgiving! Then we will probably not go back until the summer of 2008.

I am a full-time college student! My best friend, who already graduated college, has mercy on me and takes me on Disney trips with him - he's my angel on earth!

I am a SAHM and my Dh is AD Air Force. We have only been once because we live to far away.

We're going to WDW for 3 week-long trips this year!!
I'm soooo excited!

I'm a 1st grade teacher & DH owns a frame shop.
We just joined DVC this past fall....which is the only way we're able to take 3 trips this year.

I am a nurse and a foot specialist, I work with a Chiropractor (19 years now), and absolutely love what I do! DH is a General Sales Manager of a large convenience store chain (165 stores).

We go to WDW about every 2 years, I wish we could go more often but I can't talk DH into it more often, he is not a Disney Addict! I am always trying to figure out a way of talking him into it. :)

just curious....i read that some of you go to wdw 2, 3, 4 or more times a year. lucky ducks!!:rotfl:

just wondering what you and/or your spouse do for a living.

i'll go first, i was a general manager at a bagel/coffee shop until i lost my job last november.....now a sahm collecting unemployment & looking for work. my dh owns his own underground sprinkling business.
I have also wondered how people can afford to go so often (or am I just jealous LOL). We are lucky if we go once a year. There are three things I would want to happen if we ever struck it rich and they are starting with number three:
3. have a daily massage
2. get my hair professionally shampooed everyday
1. GO TO WDW EVERY MONTH (it can't be everyday because we don't
live close enough) LOL
I am a daycare provider ( fancy word for in home babysitter). My dh drives a route truck for a large company. Nothing fancy but hardworkers with three great grown sons, three great daughter in laws and five "perfect" grandchildren. Enjoy

i'm a court reporter and my husband is a desktop administrator for a stock market analysis firm. we've been married 5 years and we don't have any kiddies yet....just enjoying each other for a few more years. i would love to go to WDW every year, but i have to be fair to him. he likes WDW, but not like me! our next trip (after WDW in may) is going to be yellowstone (his choice). we can only afford to go on one major trip a year. i think the next year will probably be italy because i've been DYING to go there. then maybe WDW again (i hope!!!).

I think you will enjoy Yellowstone so much it may be your new favorite vacation spot! All I knew of it was Old Faithful and it is so much more. I went there 2 years ago and hope to go back some day. WDW is great but the beauty and magic created by God is so differently magnificient!

If it fits in you way want to go down to Utah and see the national parks there. They are incredible! We did it all in one 2 week trip.

I think this a great question. I wonder this every time I go. We have annual passes and feel like it is a stretch to get them. We can control what we spend, like go home in time for dinner. I see all these people with 4 kids and staying in a hotel and I just don't see how they do it. Then I realized while reading this thread this is your vacation. We vacation other places so all the money we spend at Disney is in addition to vacations, no wonder we can't do it like you do!

Thanks for helping me have this wake up call!

I am an Audiologist in private practice and my DH is a manager at Boeing. I work alone so a week away is very costly. I'm lucky to be able to manage it once a year. I am ridiculously CHEAP when it comes to everything else but with Disney, I lose all perspective. We don't buy souvineers or stay at deluxe resorts but I never say no to my kid's little requests (icecream etc.). It's nice to have a week where you don't nickle and dime.

My husband and I work as a team as real estate agents. When we vacation we tend to be a bit more lavish so we go high class and vacation once a year. Our business only affords us to be away very little. When we did WDW this past Sept. I went nuts over trying to find another we could attend Disney world the following year. We have this years vacation already planned for Vegas and San Diego.

I was able to plan our second trip by taking the trip during our slowest time of the year and that is January. Although is will be costly to do two big trips this coming year I have found a way to make sure it gets paid for and we don't have to scrimp. I decided to to take on an extra job as an office manager for a Home Inspection company. This will fund my next trip to WDW AKL Savannah view. We also make sure we do the dining plan as well. It is so worth it.

I'm a mid-level government employee and my husband is a higher-level construction company employee. We are not wealthy by any stretch, but our vacations are a big priority for us. I treat them as I would any other bill. A certain amount a month is set aside and that allows us 2 trips per year.

I think that many of us who go frequently spend far less on 2 trips than most families do on one. I never stay at a deluxe - it's always value if I can't get a discount and moderate if I can. We buy very few souvenirs. I don't find Disney dining to be the big thrill or culinary experience some others do, so we don't spend a fortune on food. It all works out.

That said, I'm the queen of budgeting and find it a challenge to cut expenses so we can have fun! I also have just one child to send to college, so that helps!

I am a Active Duty Staff Sergeant in the United States Air Force. I am also a PROUD single parent to 3 children that love WDW. I budget throughout the year for me and my kids to go to Disney and it works out great for us. We are so happy to be there we don't need nothing fancy.:cool1:

I am a Human Resources Specialist. My husband is an Engineer (HVAC). We go to Disney once a year. We have a timeshare in Orlando. So to save money we have breakfast and dinner, most nights, at the resort. I also save money during the year for each vacation.

The biggest way I've found to save is have my boys save a part of their allowance for their spending money. They seem to be more frugal when the money is coming out of their wallets.

This will be our first trip to WDW, but we went to DL twice in the last year and half. I love watching my 4 y/o son experience the magic. I have two grown daughters also, and we weren't able to afford to go more than twice in their lives. Now we are owners of a trucking company and so we can afford more trips. I have to say though Hawaii is and always will be at the top of my list for vacations, so WDW has some stiff competition to win our future vacations. :rotfl:

I am a stay at home mom to my DS who is 1- DH is a Anderson Movie Rep. When I was working we could easily afford going 2 times a year..which leads me to think I should consider getting a PT job to pay for WDW!! Like most of you- I budget our trips like our bills, and always tell DH- why go out to dinenr and spend $100 when that $ could go to WDW?? haha! Poor DH!

I am a stay-at-home mom who substitute teaches to supplement my husband's income. That's what I say if anyone asks, but I really only work so we can afford to visit WDW without going into debt to do it!!:cool1:

I tell everyone that my goal is to "retire" and move to FL so that I can work in WDW...My husband always laughs and says: "Retire from what??" :goodvibes

I am a teacher and my DH is a Human Resources Manager for a mid-size manufacturing company. We have been to WDW every other year. This upcoming trip will be the shortest in-between time: 15 months. We save some each month to be able to go to WDW or any other place we decide to take our DDs on vacation. We do go on some kind of vacation every year. Making memories...that's what it's all about !:goodvibes

I'm an administrative assistant and my DH is an electrician. We've been lucky enough in recent years to go every 15-18 months. We took our last trip in December and DH says it IS our last trip for a while. DD is 12 so I'm thinking maybe in three years we'll go back. DH is not the Disney nut like DD and I are. He thinks we need to spend the money elsewhere for a while. :confused3 If I ever struck it rich I would be in the twice a year club (at least). Better yet, I'd move to the area and work PT at WDW just for kicks. On our last trip I decided to buy a few more knick-knack type items to sprinkle throughout our house and my office. They bring a smile to my face and bring back fond memories.

Well this should help explain my addiction...I work for an airline.

I get great hotel discounts and next to free airfare. My DH is a research scientist. We make a comfortable living. I could be a SAHM, but we want to have this lifestyle. Everyone makes personal choices, and we like to be on-the-go. We travel pretty much every other month, and we go to many locations but my favorite is WDW. We take short trips and usually make it long weekends. So our average stay is 5 nights at WDW which is at least one day per park. My DH teases me and says that most lucky people get to go to WDW once a year, not quarterly (like we have been lately!).

Our priorties are different than others. We could probably have a nicer car, a nicer house, designer attire...etc. We are actually frugal in many ways, but we work hard to keep on-the-go. We also get attitude from family members who think if I could be a SAHM, I am incredibly selfish for not being. Ah well, that is me. We are having a ball.

Lots of airlines are hiring!:rotfl2:
It's all about choices!
