What do your kids participate in? Why?

DD8 is in ballet/tap and musical theater. She also plays soccer. We have had her in ballet/tap and soccer since she was 4 and just she started musical theater this year. She loves the stage. We have had her in swimming too, we usually do that in spring and summer- she knows how to swim now but we feel it is an important life skill- so we want her to know it well.

We started activities in Kinder... not before. We did preschool and for my family that was luxury $$ enough...

I have 3 girls and each can pick one extracurricular. They are also each in Girl Scouts... which is something important to our family. (Builds character, teaches them to lead and care for others, etc...)

I can't afford more time or money for any other activities.

Mondays: "off" Just homework
Tuesdays: Brownies for DD8
Wednesday Dance for DD8 AND kids church activities for all 3 (plus me volunteer!)
Thursday: Dance for DD6, and DD10
Friday: Daisies for DD6 (I lead)
Saturday: off
Sundays: DD10 Juniors troop (I lead)

DD10 has had the opportunity this year to join choir and newsletter at school. They are *before* school at 7:15. Works for us, but would be darn near impossible if after school.

As other have said we kinda brought thngs up & let them choose.

DS12- Plays soccer almost year round, snowboards, Boy Scouts & is in Band. Right now he is also running Crosscountry. In our School system we still have sports in k-6 so in 5/6 grade he was in Football, Basketball, track, Soccer & softball.

DD10 tried T-ball & soccer didn't care for it. So now she takes Piano lessons & does Theater stuff. Is in Jungle Book right now.

DS 16 played baseball when he was in 2nd 3rd grade, he did not like it and it showed he did not really care about it. Since 4th grade he has been in 4H, he has done several projects throught them beef, swine, sheep, outdoor meat cookery,livestock judging. My dad has the farm and he can keep all of the animals there. Now that he is in highschool he is in FFA (Future Farmers of America). I'm pretty sure he will have a career in Ag.
DD10 is also in 4H, she is doing about the same thing along with food science. She just started in band playing flute, SHe did do baseball, gymnastics, girl scouts. We do stay pretty busy with 4H but we love it!!!

DS is 7 and he does fall and spring soccer, basketball (winter) and baseball (summer). They are all through the local rec department so none of them overlap, which is nice. We want to get him into music lessons as well since DH is a music teacher.

He's been bugging us about football, but I keep putting it off. They take full contact football here way too seriously at such a young age. Plus, it scares me since DS is so little. I keep telling him if he plays he has to be the kicker!
