I have a 5 year old daughter who has a decent amount of Barbie dolls, baby dolls, polly pocket sort of things(disney princess ones) and she never seems to want to play with them. She likes her DS and doing arts and crafts. I know when I was little, barbie dolls, my little pony, and cabbage patch kids were my favorite things to play with.

My DD is 4 and she likes playing with her dolls but is equally as happy playing with cars and lorries etc with her older brothers. At the moment she is also loving doing jigsaws but I think that is only a phase as last month all she done was colouring in.

My DD is 5 nd is really into Barbie and the Go anywhere dolls( look like pollys without the insane clothes to put on)She plays with her bitty baby too.She loves her leapster 2 but I limit her time on it since she would be content to sit and play video games all day( I know they are educational but still).

I am amazed that my daughter does not play with the whole Barbie thing and stuff. She is much happier with some crayons or glue.

We have about 2 dozen naked barbies here, but dd6 likes drawing, stuffed animals, and her ds. She's got a 7 year old sister, and 6 year old brother, so they just all play together (which usually involves tape, string, scissors, markers, paper, and stuffed animals - they like to make things).

My dd plays with her Disney Princess Barbies but would much rather play with her baby brothers Mega Blocks lol. She is 3.

My 5 yr old son loves his 3 yr old sisters Princess dresses and Barbies LOL.

My DD 5 plays with her Barbies a ton now since she got a Barbie townhouse for Christmas - I guess before she just didn't have a lot to do with the Barbies. We do not have much space so the townhouse is perfect - the it folds flat and was about $30 at Costco and it came with 2 dolls. Maybe try that?

My DD loves arts and crafts too. When it comes to "regular" toys, she seems to play with them more when she has something she can do with them - like the Barbie house example. She also started playing with her baby dolls more when she had a high chair for them, diaper bag, etc.

She also plays with her dishes a lot - she loves to set up tea parties.

Hope this helps!

That could be why my DD is not so into her Barbie dolls.............she does not have the house or anything like that.

My DD is 4.5 years old. She has a few different favorite toys that she seems to rotate through. We keep them all in bins and she has to ask to get them out of the closet so they do not get scattered everywhere with lost pieces. She loves Littlest Pet Shop, My Little Pony, Playmobil, Hot Wheels, and Dora/Diego. Last week she had My Little Ponies out nearly all week long. The week before that it was Littlest Pet Shop. This week she's mostly been playing Little People with her younger sister. Aside from those toys, she really loves stuffed animals. She totes them around all the time and has a new favorite entourage each week.

We have a bin of Barbies and she never plays with them. We also have mega blocks, which she does not use. We have a dollhouse with people/accessories and that gets used every so often, but not nearly as much as the above mentioned toys.

My DD is like your OP. She likes to play with Play-doh, beads, paints, crayons, her V-Tech camera, Legos, Leapster, Gameboy... She RARELY plays with her dolls or dollhouse.

My DD5 has all the "usual" girl toys as well, tons of naked barbies, a Pocket Leapster, dolls galore but she wants to play with glue, scissors, markers and bandaids. She will play with a box of silly bandaids all afternoon.
She puts them on her body, her sister, paper and draws around them, walls, you name it and there is a bandaid.
Maybe this is a sign of a Nurse or Doctor in the making...

My DD to plays with bandaid.........her bandaid of choice are the tattoo kind.

My dd is 8 and she has been playing w/ barbies since she was 5 that is the one cosistent thing that she plays w/. She would probably play w/ her ds more often but she can't ever find it the child has way too many purses and when she does find it the battery is usually dead.

oh and I forgot...DD is really big into playing "teacher" lately. She sits all her dolls in a circle and does circle time, and uses her coloring books and practice workbooks.I crack up because she uses mannerisms and a stern voice like her preschool teacher does..

I have two girls ages 4 and 8. They too have naked barbies galore and very rarely ever get touched. They also have a barbie house, car, etc which I thought would add excitement. Wrong! They both do however LOVE baby dolls and going shopping for new baby clothes, bottles, etc. We only buy babies that are preemie or newborn size so we can go to Wal-Mart and take advantage of the real baby clothes sales. (Yesterday I found cute preemie onsies on sale for 75 cents a piece!) They also like playing their DS's especially in the car and while waitiing for appt's etc. They also have a Wii now and like that to. Oh my little one adores Hannah Montana so any HM play clothes and ALL microphones get well used.

My DD will be 5 in February, and she loves her Barbies (she has HSM ones and Disney Princess ones, all fully clothed), her Bitty Baby, Littlest Pet Shop, her Loving Family dollhouse, Build-a-Bear, Playmobil (she has the horse ranch and heaps of accessories, plus her brother has the pirate ship and the construction stuff) and her Fisher Price dolls. She also loves to read books, play DS or Wii (we limit that), play board games, watch DVDs, do arts and crafts and play outside. For her birthday she will be getting a full sized AG. We find that if I, DH or even her brother play with her for a little while she immediately gains interest in a toy that she would have otherwise ignored.

My 6 year old dd is content playing sports and with cars and her Baby Annabel or Our Generation Doll. She will not play with Barbies or anything like that. I was the same way growing up. My 10 year old dd used to love playing with her barbies but that changed to arts and drawing stuff over time. I let them choose what they like and don't stress it much as I was playing with cars and being a regular tomboy growing up. Of course it didn't help that the only girls in my family were my sisters and myself and I had all boy cousins and we were best friends.

My dd5's favorite toys are dinosaurs, anything to build with (blocks, legos, gears, lincoln logs), Ponyville ponies and accessories, her dollhouse, Bratz and Barbies. She will gladly sit down and play with big brothers Bakugan or Hot Wheels. She also loves to color, write and draw.

The only things she has no interest in is video games (we have a Leapster, a Vsmile Pocket, Game Boys, Wii, Game Cube and Xbox) although she recently discovered that she does like the Reader Rabbit Preschool and Kindergarten computer games.

My dd will be 5 in April, and likes lots of different things, depending on the day/week/month, lol. She likes her Barbies, but makes me change the clothes. She does have my old 3 story Barbie dollhouse that my dad built for my sister and me, so they have a nice home. ;) She also likes My Little Pony, Polly Pocket, Littlest Pet Shop, puzzles, coloring, writing, books, ballet, helping me in the garden (when it is nice out, at least!), playing her brother's Nintendo ds, her Bitty Baby and other baby dolls, putting on plays, crafts, stuffed animals, singing, Playmobil, Little People, playing games like Memory, Go Fish, Snail's Pace Race, cars, Rescue Heroes, Star Wars, and probably a bunch of other types of things I can't think of at the moment.

Sometimes she's the biggest girly girl (oh, yeah - dress-up), but she also plays with a lot of boys, both her brother or at pre-school. Oh, yeah, she also likes her brother's Bakugan, Yu-gi-oh cards, and Pokemon stuff (esp. the DS game).

My DD is 5 and loves My Little Pony, Littlest Pet Shop, Groovy Girls, Stuffed Animals (especially her Webkinz), Webkinz, Horses, Polly Pocket, Barbies, Arts and Crafts, Leapster and DS. She really enjoys playing on the websites of all of the above toys too. Sometimes she plays with her babies, but not as much as she used to. She loves being outside swinging, riding her bike and scooter, playing on the trampoline and roller skating.
