What do you wish you would have known?

Steve-we are in the exact same boat you are right now. We sat down again last night and went over figures. Talked to Gib McCain again this week and got the skinny on point cost and what we need and with the figures and association fees what we could save over the next 41 years on hotel rooms alone would be 63,000 roughly because they go up every year and that is a dtandard concierge room at the Boardwalk Inn in value season. Then we say ok we'll do it. Then we decide we would miss concierge too much and the convenience of having everyhting packaged together and everything done. Then I decide I can't be that spoiled because financially it makes too much sense. Then the comments about the maintenance not being up to par scares me because I do want happy bright fun times when I go to the Boardwalk!! I have had a headache all week. DVC owners HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OK, I'm glad we are not alone!! Seriously though, that's exactly where we are at. We WANT to do this, but just can't get over a few humps yet.

What my wife and I are actually thinking now, is maybe we should STOP thinking about it, for a little while at least, until our August trip. (2nd trip this year). We have already been talking with Judy Kaufman by phone, very nice by the way, and I have been thinking of calling her and scheduling a "live" tour of the place for the first day of our August trip. Maybe that will finally sway us either way!

By all means, if you haven't gone to the DVC sales center st SSR at seen the resort and the room models, you should. Just seeing the AKV room models sold me!

Steve-I am at a point where I want to make the decision now. If we are going to do it I want to be able make the reservation at our 11 month window so we can get a Boardwalk View. I am also getting ready to have major surgery in a month so we need to get closed on it if we are going to do it because I am going to be in the hospital an hour away for three weeks. I guess this would be a good pre-recovery present! You know this would be a slam dunk deal for us if they would allow bookings at the BWI concierge like you will be able to book AKL concierge now. Keep thinking about it too. We can start a support group and get each other through it!

LOL, SFbank...I'm with you on that too! I'm actually leaving, work related, for some job training\skill updates this Sunday. I'll be gone for TWO WEEKS! without any real time to think about our decision, and\or visit these boards!

If we could make a decision by Saturday, I'd do it, but I'm HOPING my two weeks away from home will help clear the ol' noggin' a bit. Good luck with everything, and if you still have not made a decision when you get back, maybe we CAN start that support group!
