I was looking at buying a food processor for grating cheese and making pizza dough.

I know there are a million other things to do with one, what do you use it for and do you have any good recipes?

For years we used our food processor strictly for grating parmesan cheese. :)

Let's see what else have we used it for?

We used to make mousse with it, a lot. We'd put ice cubes in one at a time to create snow, then add a HMR 70+ (LINK), a little water or milk, a tablespoon of instant pudding mix, and any additional flavoring. (For example, you could use chocolate instant pudding and add a little instant coffee, for a mocha mousse. Yum!)

We make gazpacho in the food processor sometimes, using it to roughly chop the veggies, and then using it to puree a small part of the veggies to serve as the base for the soup.

I think we're going to work on creating our own hummus this summer.

(Can you tell that we're vegetarians? :rotfl: )

I do recommend strongly getting a good one. We went through so many so many "bargain" food processors. What you ask a food processor to do is often quite hard work. Especially making bread dough!

This is the one we've had for ages now... and it is absolutely great! (It's a Kitchen Aid.)

We have the matching blender also (you can see it in the back), though ours are in green. :) Both are super work-horses; super-strong, super-durable (at least as far as we can tell and feel).

I have a mini processor and I make hummus with it.
As you can tell from my tag, it's always lumpy. But it's so delicious! :cool1:

DH and I make hotdogs. We use our processor to emulsify the meat. The processor gets quite a workout doing this:yay:!!!

I use mine for Oreo Truffles and Black Bean burgers. I also use it for pie crusts.

I got mine for my first mother's day to make baby food. My DS is going to be 24 soon. :)

Besides making baby food....I got a really good cookbook made for food processors and I have many favorite recipes in it. It has the best sugar cookie recipe in it and some holidays I have made as many as 12 batches of this dough. I have used it to mix cakes and cookies when my mixer died. I make all kinds of dips and cut up veggies for meals. I have a small one now also and use it a lot for chopping up nuts and onions, garlic and graham crackers for crusts.

BTW, add some almonds to the graham crackers for crusts and it is wonderful. It makes it crisper and nutty. I got that from an Emeril recipe.

I also have a Kitchen Aid food processor and LOVE it. I like to put a whole onion or two in (I cut it in two/three pieces first) and let it rip. No tears!!!
