Have a brand new :lovestruc anniversary ring and want to keep it gorgeous!

Do you buy a special cleaner? Use windex? Do you take your diamond ring off when you wash dishes? What keeps it sparkly princess: and shiny?

i use toothpaste & my toothbrush...works great. i only take my rings off at night so i never have to worry about losing or misplacing them

i use boiling water and Dawn dishsoap. Let it soak 20-30 minutes for really dirty jewlery. then scrub with a soft little brush (i use my old toothbrush). and ALWAYS put a washcloth in the sink when you clean your jewlery. i have a GF who had a diamond pop out while she was scrubbing and it went down the drain :-(

If you purchase a good ultra-sonic cleaner, you will always have a beautiful sparkly ring, just as if it were cleaned at the jewelers. (Maybe you could add one to your Christmas list!)

I've always used a little Dawn dish soap with a drop or two of ammonia. I let it sit awhile swirl around a bit and then rinse. I don't use a toothbrush or scrub for fear I will loosen the setting or pop out the diamond. Oh, when I rinse, I put them on my finger.

I take mine to the jewelry store twice a year to get it cleaned. It's part of my inspection to keep the warranty up to date.

I never wear mine to do dishes but if I do see it dirty, I will shower with it.

I use hydrogen peroxide. I put the ring in a glass and just cover it with the peroxide right before I take a shower. When I am all towelled off, I swirl the ring around the glass and a whole lot of gunk floats up to the top of the liquid. Then I rinse it and put it back on.

I usually do this a couple of times a month.

Yikes! I have been married almost five years and have NEVER once cleaned my ring!!!:scared1: I bet it would look awesome if I did....I'm doing the toothpaste thing TONIGHT. Plus, right now, until I lose a few pounds, they are stuck on my finger. :rolleyes1

i would stick with the toothpaste. boiling water can break down any solder points your ring has, too much ultrasonic cleaning can loosen your diamonds and ammonia isn't really good for jewelry at all. believe it or not, i use straight drano, but i know that freaks out some people.

Thanks everyone for the awesome  tips ~ think I'll go the toothpaste & soft toothbrush route, sounds easy and safe

Drano?!?!?!? My sister & I used to be so :scared1: scared of that when we were kids, our Mom scared us away from going close to it!! :rotfl:

I have mine cleaned by the jeweler we buy all of our jewelry from. I have used the ammonia solution that came with my sonic cleaner, but not often. Why would they put it in there if it was harmful? I will ask my jeweler about it the next time we go in. I have also used a toothbrush with toothpaste. No way I would put Drano on something that was going back on my hand.

I never take any of my jewelry off for anything. Diamond earrings, bracelets, watch, rings. I am having my wedding ring repaired right now and I feel downright nekkid.

i was a jeweler for 17 years, so i could try out some outlandish stuff during that time. my neighbor has a big honkin' diamond bracelet and i told her to clean it with drano and she thought i was nuts. so i put my stuff in first to prove it to her. now it's all she uses.

i've left my wedding ring in drano for 3 days with no problem.

I use really hot water, This Jewelry Clear that a gel 7 scrub with a little tooth brush. My rings go into a Martini Glass when I come home from work along with my watch. When I worked at a Liquor Store I had to clean the shelves with ammonia water & my rings were very shiney. I do take them to a Jeweler at least twice a year.
