Anyone have an opinion about using the lens cleaning solution that an optician gives you for cleaning your glasses :cool2: ? The bottle says isopropanol on it..I am guessing it is isopropanol and water. Camera store guy told me it is safe for cleaning camera lenses, but he didn't seen too sure :scratchin

I have used this in the past:

thumb.asp

It is the Lens Pen by Promaster. Small and compact and removes smudges.

I would be interested in seeing what others use.

I use Kodak lens cleaning fluid (or ClearSight) and Kodak tissue. Or whatever shirt I am wearing, in a pinch.

All over WDW where they sell camera straps or bags they sell this little red mickey mouse pouch and inside is a microfiber cloth for cleaning lenses. It even has a clip to attach to the outside of your camera bag. I think it costs 4 or 5 bucks. Works great .

I have a microfiber cloth as well, but I have been told not to wipe dry lens as dust can scratch lens coating.

I put a UV filter on all my lenses as not to scratch them.

that's what my optician told me( after he swore the uv coating on my glasses that was scratched in a bout a week was due to me cleaning them wrong with the stuff they gave me;) ) but i just read you don't have to wet it so who knows...i use optical glass cleaner and a microfiber cloth after using the lens pen brush side to brush off any crud that might be there( holding lens upside down so it falls off) and then either buff with other end of pen if it's ok or clean with microfiber/glass cleaner. so far nothing is damaged or scratched.

walmart has them for about $2 minus the mickey and clip..also at least by me they sell you a bottle of the cleaner for $2 that is refillable forever( or until walmart disappears from the face of the earth at least:) ) just remember to wash occasionally in the washer or you have gunk build up that can scratch

Gamestop (in many malls) sells the same type of microfiber cloth minus Mickey, also for $2 if I remember right. Maybe $3. I went with the much larger Spudz one myself (18% gray, but the cheap ones look about that color, too) but it's pretty much identical otherwise.

Dishwasher seems to do a good job,,,,,

Oh wait, thats for empty beer bottles for homebrew.

I just use a microfiber cloth I picked up for about $3 at one of my local camera shops. Same thing I use for my sunglasses.
