What do you use the ID tags for your children for?

I made up labels on the printer that I stuck on the back of his shirt with my and dh's cell phone numbers (ds didn't know it was on him).

I also got a velcro ID bracelet that has a pouch in it so you can put a little card with the info. in it and it's waterproof. I was more concerned with the waterparks then at the theme park, probably cuz at the theme parks he was always in the stroller.

I have seen alot of different bracelets, shoe tags, etc. Here's the link of where I got the velcro ID bracelet from. (it says medical ID on the description, but the bracelet just says ID inside

We found a little boy wandering MK by himself and brought him to a cast member. The sad thing is that the cast member just walked around with him looking for his party. If he had info. on him, their worries would have only lasted a minute or two!

Have a great trip!

Forgot to tell you, they are used so if a child gets separated from their party, CMs can get in touch with us right away.

Luckily we haven't had to use ours, but ds just turned 3 and his wandering days are definitely ahead!

I use ID tags for my DD9 just in case she gets lost or if an accident were to occur and I was not there. We make our own.

I was at Petsmart once and a lady was at the machine that you can use to print your pet's own tag. She told me that she was printing her child's name and her cell # on the Disney tag and would attach it to her child's shoe laces!

Part of the Disney procedure for handling children that are separated from their parents includes staying in the same general area for a few minutes, as the parents usually don't get too far away.

I have always used Avery labels and used Disney print art to make "name tags" for my kids DD8, DS6, DDalmost5.
I place the tags on the INSIDE of their t shirts and they all know that they are there. They know that if they become separated, to find a Disney castmember and show them the sticker if they can't remember important info (it can happen to a small kid if they are scared!)
Since they are "Disney" decorated, they don't mind when I put them on the inside of the shirts and then strangers can't just read the info. either.
On the tags I put their name, my name and DH name, cell phone number and the resort that we are staying at.

Wal-mart has one of those tag machines in the front of the store. I got one of the large red hearts and put both mine and my DH cell numbers on it.

The new pet store at DTD (it took over half of the Winnie the Pooh Store) has a pet ID tag machine.

We got our DD a tag in the shape of the Classic Mickey with her name and our cell phone numbers. She thinks it's her own special necklace and she has NO problems wearing it.

I think it was about $10 (including the chain).

I posted a while back on a thread about "favorite tips from this board" my experience with the ID tags for my kids. We did it this summer and I was so glad I did. My 9 y.o. son got lost at AK and we were reunited very quickly. The fact that I got them the tags and made them wear them caused me to remember on our first day there to explain to them what the tags were for and what to do if they were lost. When my son was lost, he knew exactly what to do and who to tell, so we were reunited very quickly (of course it seemed like forever!). If we hadn't gotten the tags and gone over what to do, I don't know what he would have done and we would definitely not have found him that quickly!!

I just checked out the shoe id tags and those things look really neat. Anyone here ever use them? If so, do they stay fastened on the shoe well? I am thinking of getting those for my kids.

I bought the Whose Shoes id tags...we haven't gone yet, but they look good to me. I like the idea of the pet tags on the shoelaces, too.

I've actually moved to the point where I'm getting a cell phone before we go down. DH and I bought walkie talkies, but I've decided I need to have a cell phone as well (he already has one). Just that kind of thing, separations, etc. It's not worth the anxiety.

Wow! Those ID tags are a real good idea. I wish my parents had thought of them a couple years ago. My little brother ran off when we were with my aunt at a base ball game. When she finall found him, his answer to what he had learned was that the stadium was a circle, so he couldnt get lost. He also ran off in Epcot. My mom turned for 2 seconds to put the camcorder away and he was gone. She found him a couple of minutes later, but if he had the ID tags, he would have been found sooner. Awesome ideas you all have!

I did the Petsmart tag for DD6 and her very favorite special stuffed animal. They are matching red metal hearts, and they will both wear them around their necks on chains.

DDs has our names, our cellphone #, the dates we are staying, and our resort name on it. She is old enough to tell a CM her name. On her stuffed bear, we printed, "VERY PRECIOUS BEAR-PLEASE RETURN TO (DD)", and we put our cellphone # on it. Her bear is so very important, but it is really shabby-we are afraid if it gets lost, that someone would throw it away.

She loves that she and her bear have matching necklaces, and she'll wear hers with no problems. Better safe than sorry, we figure!!
