You know we have the "Boo" tradition at Halloween..
What about a Secret Santa in which you do the same thing but in a stocking at Christmas time? I'm trying to think of something neat and new to do for our neighbors.. we chose a home in the "older" area of town and all our neighbors are the age of our parents/grandparents... I wanted something nice to do next year for them.. there is about 3 of them we are really good friends with..and one has pretty much adopted us as family which is good when we have had to ask for help...

thank for any opinions...
and/or suggestions as to what to include..

My kids love to bake for some of our neighbors. This year we did gingerbread cookies.:)

I think something like that would be sweet. We have always brought Christmas Bread to each of our nieghbors.

I made plates of cookies for the neighbors again this year. I start a few years ago when the first couple moved in on Christmas day. I took them a plate and a list of all the phone numbers of places that deliver for our area. I know that they could not get food on that day, but they could use it in the future.
Know they all ask when are the cookies coming.
I think your idea is great.
S :)

That sounds like such a neat idea! We don't really know our neighbors--well, we know one of them and then there's a renting family across the street. I would love to live in a neighborhood where everyone knew everyone!

I think the Christmas cookies are a neat idea! I bet the neighbors will love it! :)

I think it's a great idea. We don't know many of our neighbors either. The one neighbor we do know, we usually give them pies from my inlaws restaurant.

that is a cute idea Nancy. I can boo my mom, but we don't live in a place the is good for that kind of stuff.

We have an older couple across the street that we take cookies too every year. They keep an eye out when ever we are gone and has been a big help with things with DH gone on business so much lately. They love DD and have a granddaughter her age so they play when every she visits.

We did that for secret santa at school. I will see if i can find the poem and post it here. it would have to be modified for neighbors/friends but could easily be done.

Found what we used at school. It could be altered as needed for frends, neighbors, etc.

You've Been Jingled!

Now that the holidays are almost here,
Tis the season for spreading cheer!
A little elf has come your way
To bring you joy and "make your day!"

Now YOU are the elf and it's your turn to play.
Pass the "spirit" quickly . . . don't delay!
Make a copy of this note and add a little treat;
The person that you give it to will think you're really neat!

Place it on someone's desk when they can't see you,
And then the fun begins when they try to "guess who?"
To show others you've been "jingled" and your "elf work" is done,
Put this bell by your computer screen and we'll all enjoy the fun!

You could substitute a stocking for the bell, real or paper, or a picture of an elf, etc. Someone started it with three people, so that our whole staff of 22 would be jingled. We all enjoyed it!
