What do you think will happen to those who booked with *** and weren't eligible?

**sorry--code removed--it's a PIN offer only and against board guidelines to post**

When everyone called to book this rate I remember seeing that some people were able to book it without a pin number attached to their account....what do you think Disney will do with those people who got the rate but weren't eligible for it?

I'm figuring that they will make them pay the rack rate for the resort if they aren't eligible for the code they are using. I have read that is what happens if you ask to apply an AP rate and you decide not to get an AP.

But how can they do that if central reservations gave them that rate and didn't ask for a pin or tell them they needed anything?

PookaJean,

You are assuming that those who were successful in booking this code without GIVING an PIN didn't have it attached to their account. IT is quite possible that a PIN was listed in their profile and that they had yet to recieve that email or postcard. Plus, once Disney gives a confirmation of a rate I believe they are obligated to honor that rate.

If this is a situation you are in, then I would call before leaving. Better to be prepared then caught unaware with a larger bill. If this is not a situation that you are in, I would not worry.

I asked reservations about what would happen with my AP rate reservation if I decided not to get an AP and was told that just like with anyother discount code, if you are not eligible for the AP rate then you end up paying non code rate for the resort.

So it sounds like to me that even if you got a code for the resort, if the pin isn't under your name, they very well could make you pay the regular rate.

Like the other person said, call reservations before you go before you get to WDW and findout that you owe alot more money then you thought.

When I got a postcard with a pin, they applied the discount over the phone. I then received an updated paper confirmation. When checking into the resort I never had to show the postcard etc.
So, I would think nothing would happen to these people. If it is already applied I would think it would be in the computer and that is what they will be charged at check in. :confused3

MrsJ Henry,

That probably was because the pin was associated with the reservation so they already had the information in the system.

This is why sometimes they ask for an AP because that wouldn't be in the system.

I have a room reserved under the code. Didn't have a pin number. I was upfront with CRO when I made the reservation. I told them I got the code from someone on the internet and asked if I could use it. She put me on hold for a long time and said her supervisor looked at our history and told her to give us the rate. ($185/night AKL savannah view...includes tax) :flower:

My confirmation says nothing but "room only".

gepetto,

Mine says the same thing "room only" for my AP rate reservation at the end of the month. However, under resort information it does say eligible annual/seasonal pass required at check in. You might want to check under resort informaton to see if it says anything there.

Nope. Doesn't say anything is required at check-in. :flower:

We have AP's and usually book under the AP rate.

gepetto,

I am sure your rate will be ok. Just bring the confirmation paperwork with you showing where it does say anything about eligibility and I am sure they will honor it if there is an issue.

Pin codes are only required at time of booking. If the res is booked with *** no further proof of the code is requiered. Cast members are not supposed to book without the pin number but sometimes do in error.

AAA, AP, and Fla resident all require ID at time of check-in.

It is dangerous to say "you got the code off the internet", or "a friend of a friend told you". How it is handled could be on a case by case basis including how you got the code and what requirements were on the confirmation notice.

Let's imagine it was the AP code you got and used, not knowing what it was.

I would expect that when you got there, you would either have the rate honored without a word (OK AP'ers, start flaming me!) or be allowed one of three choices,

1. Pay the lowest rate for which you overtly qualified (for example AAA, show your card and save.)

2. Show/buy an AP.

3. Walk away with a refund of your deposit and pay/owe nothing.

If it is an AP code then I would not take any chances and definitely have an AP available to show at check-in. And if you don't have one, then don't complain if you have to pay rack rate.

However...

My opinion is that if you book under a PIN code, and they give you the code even though your account is not tagged with a PIN, and they also give you confirmation in writing that your room is booked at that rate, then they are required to honor it. Period. It's their error, not yours. Just be sure to have your confirmation in writing.

If you book an AP rate and don't have an AP your res will revert to rack rate.

why is it dangerous? The CM's supervisor looked at our history and gave us the rate. Absolutely nothing is noted on our confirmation. We've been AP holders for years and every time we book an AP rate, our confirmation always says it's an AP rate and ID is required. :flower:

If I hadn't gotten that rate from Disney, I would have happily booked the AP rate at the Dolphin and stayed there instead.

I was one of the ones who called and tried to use the *** code. The first CM I spoke with, I was very up front with and told him I didn't have a PIN and had gotten the code off the internet. He said no problem, I didn't need a PIN, and then proceeded to offer me several hotels using the code. Unfortunately (or fortunately depending on how you look at it) his computer kept freezing up on him. He said it had been doing that all morning. He put me on hold and in just a few moments another CM picked it up. I told her what had happened and she said 'oh no! there's no way you can use that code if you don't have a PIN #'. She then looked in my file and told me I did not qualify for anything at that time. I told her I knew alot of people had gotten it without a pin # and she said 'well they will be charged rack rate at check in, if a Pin # is not in their file'. I called several times after that getting different CMs each time, but being very upfront about what had happened and in each instance I was told I had better be glad I got disconnected from the first CM as the second CM was correct and I would have definitely been charged rack rate at check in regardless of what the confirmation letter said, because I did not really qualify for the *** code. I have ressies for POP Century for May and am hoping for an AP code.

I did a split stay last month. When I checked into the WL, I told the CM I only had a voucher and hadn't had time to get the AP validated and asked if she needed to see the voucher or the receipt where I bought it. She said no, but of course she saw me reaching into my bag so obviously I had it. A few days later when I was checking into the AKL, the CM asked to see my AP. When I said something about it, she said Disney is cracking down on things, including people using room codes they aren't eligible for. As soon as I showed her my AP, she immediately got nice again and said for some reason I just wasn't in the system yet.

Then the reservationists shouldn't be giving out room codes for people without pins. I'm not even a little bit worried about it not being honored at check in. I told them where I got the code and asked if I could use it. Her supervisor said yes. Case closed.
