What do you think when you see someone

I don't think anything because my glasses & DD's old ones were the kind that change. They didn't always change fast enough....OR my other thinking would be that they had drops in their eyes and had just come back from the eye doctor.

Honestly...I would never go down the road of drug addict, etc...

Probably because I could think of 1,001 logical reasons to be wearing sunglasses inside.

and here in California, at certain times you get noticed if you are NOT wearing sunglasses.

I do that, too. So apparently, the other shoppers at Safeway think I am a drug addict, a conceited wench, ashamed of myself, tired, in mourning, or have super-sensitive eyes. Nice to know.

Crud see this is what I was afraid of. I had surgery on Tuesday and have a GROSS surgi strips all over my lower eyelid- bloody gross.

But I have shopping to do- and I was hoping that I could just slap on some big shades and hit the stores. Then I starting thinking about what I think when I see someone with them on.
Looks like I'll be staying home.

My dd has had several eye surgeries and wore sunglasses everywhere (school, shopping, restaurants, etc) for about a month each time, due to the redness of the eye and the sensivity to light. Occasionally, people would make idiotic comments to her like "ooh, look at you, you're so cool", but she learned to ignore them.

Go on and go shopping with your sunglasses on. Don't worry about what other people think. There are many legitimate reasons to wear sunglasses inside and if people are going to think badly about a person for doing it, that's their problem, not yours.

Go shopping! Most people are in a rush trying to get their Christmas shopping done. You don't want to wait till the last minute. It doesn't matter what people think. People might not like your shoes or your hairstyle either, but you'll never know. As long as you are happy and doing what you have to do, that's what matters.

I also have prescription sunglasses and dont always take them off if I am running into a store really quickly.

I have no problem with people walking around with them on. I am sure they have their reasons but don't stand there having a conversation with your sun glasses on - I find it annoying and rude - I would like to talk to you and see your eyes - not my reflection.

I do know someone (early 50s) who never goes out without her face all made up - when I see her with her glasses inside - I know it's because she has no make up on.

That's what I say. People are going to make assumptions no matter what. What's more important: your comfort level or what a stranger thinks?

Go shopping. I had surgery on my eyes, which were already sensitive to begin with, and I had to wear sunglasses inside for months. My eyes were so sensitive that even at midnight with all the lights in the house turned off and just the light from the TV, I had to wear sunglasses.

So to heck with people, wear your glasses and shop away.

wow, you would have thought I was extremely rude. Didn't take them off for months, Under Dr's orders. I guess that makes him rude too. You just don't know what is going on with people.

I've done it several times. Once, when I had an allergic reaction to my makeup. My eyes were red, chapped, very swollen with welts all over. They looked absolutely horrible so my solution was to wear sunlgasses.

Then, a few years later I contracted shingles on my forehead and right eye. It wasn't contagious, but it looked awful. I didn't want to stay in the house for the time it took to heal so, once again, I wore sunglasses whenever I went out. I didn't feel strange until we went to dinner one evening - now that was weird. It never occurred to me that it was rude, though. Strange and eccentric yes, but not rude.

I really do understand your point. It's funny though because had you known me and I took off my sunglasses to have a conversation with you, you really would have really thought I hated you. lol The pain was so intense from any kind of light all I did was squint and everybody thought I was giving them really dirty looks. That's fine - I was probably not too clear in my statement. I would not care what people think if I had a problem (medically, drunk, lack of sleep, etc.) and wore glasses inside. I can choose to stay home (which is crazy) or go out and the heck with everyone. You had/have a reason and it bothered you. It's the few that "I know" - who think it's cool, they look good, etc. I really don't want to talk to them if they are inside and will be inside for a while and leave them on and I know you don't have a problem. I am also very sensitive to light. When I hit my 40's (I have light eyes and people say that they are more sensitive - who knows) - I could not go outside anymore without sunglasses. Inside, I would prefer it not too bright either but I am no where near the point where I need to wear sunglasses. If I do, then - that's fine too. At least we have options.

Wouldn't you know it, I just came from a meeting and a participant was wearing sun glasses. My immediate thought was that she had gone out at lunch and forgotten to take them off. She must have felt self conscious though because she immediately explained to the group she had been to the eye doctors and had her eyes dialated and the lights were bothering her.
