What do you think should happen to this woman?

I worked with a woman who lost her 6yo DD to a drunk driver. She always said, "If you ever want to murder someone and get away with it, just go out, get drunk, and run them over with your car."

How true is that? That piture makes me ill. That piece of crap MURDERED two innocent people. Life in prison.

They need to make sure that her mug shot is shown to the jury at her trial(s). I'm sure that would certainly help convict her.

Personally, I think she should get life in jail. And not of that minimum security stuff. You killed 3 people total, you got to the maximum security prison just like the rest of the murderers.

I believe that she should be jailed for the rest of her life without the possibility of parole.

She is a danger to herself and others, and obviously killing one person had no effect on her, so she ended up killing a 2nd person. I don't think we should ever give her the opportunity to kill a 3rd person.

No doubt, but I also worry that the publicity it's gotten so far may taint the jury pool and her attorneys will argue for a change of venue.

I searched on google for the penalty for second-degree murder in VA -- 5 to 40 years. That's definitely stricter than involuntary vehicular manslaughter while under the influence, which carries a 1-20 year sentence. Hopefully it will end up being closer to the 40, especially since this is the second time this has happened for this piece of trash.

Something like this happened in IL. There was a road rage incident, and the guy tried to run over another driver after they pulled over (to get away from him). I believe he was put up on attempted murder charges. Up until then the charges would have been much less (moving violations and the like), but the judge said "Face it, a 3000 pound moving vehical is definatly a deadly weapon!".

So, it's good they are going for 2nd degree murder. They can't go with 1st degree, because that means the murder has to be pre-meditated and planed. Say what you will about this creature, but I'm sure she didn't sit down and think "I'll run over a 51 year old man today". It's not that they don't want to charge her with 1st, it's just that her crime doesn't fit the charge, they'd run the risk of her getting off altogether if they charged her with that, and no one wants that to happen!

Given her prior history, when convicted I'm sure she get the higher end of the sentence (30 to 40 years). If she's 33, she'd be out between 63 and 73, so that's pretty close to a life sentence.

I saw this story on the news last night. Sickening!!! I just want to smack that smile right off of her face. I hope she rots in jail for a long, long time.

Annette, do you listen to WRVA at all? The morning talk host, Jimmy Barrett, has made a public statement that if this woman does not get life in prison for this he will personally coordinate a protest outside of the Chesterfield Courthouse. Given the popularity of that station - I bet that will be some protest too.

No doubt. The folks I've talked to here have the same reaction as the posters here. I haven't heard one person giving her the benefit of the doubt, and rightfully so. This isn't just another run of the mill, DUI - if there is such a thing.

There's no way she'll get an impartial jury here, so I wouldn't be at all shocked by a change in venue.

In all reality, she's a very troubled woman. Lives like this one sadden me. Don't you agree that she looks like ten miles of hard road? This is not a woman who lived a sweet childhood with pink comforters and intact virginity. It has not been easy for her. It's written all over her face.

(emphasis mine)

You know, I can't pity her though. How many people in this world have has a childhood from hell, parents from hell, schooling from hell, you get the idea, and grow up to never hurt a fly. I don't think it's an excuse for such hideous behavior (not saying you did).

She should get life without the possiblity of parole. This was murder in my opinion, she did it before and got out of prison and did the same thing.
