Boma and Kona for dinner? I have ressies at both places, never been to either. What are your experiences at these?

We didn't really care for Boma when we ate there. Maybe it just wasn't our style of food though. We absolutely loved Kona. We have been there for breakfast too. It was delicious. Good luck choosing!!

You probably know that Boma is a buffet. The food there is a little different with it's African influences, but there are always items that like roasted chicken, and a carved meat. We personally enjoy Boma and have eaten there a few times.

We go to Boma every year. My sons are picky, youngest super-picky, but they always make certain that we go. Something for everyone there, plus the whole experience of DAKL is definitely worth the visit.

We LOVE both of those places! They are both favorites and must-dos for my family. Boma is a great buffet with a variety of choices, and Kona is a la carte with great food and service. Plus, the atmosphere if the Poly is just the icing on the cake. :goodvibes

Both very good Boma is buffet and has a lot of choices...Kona is more steak etc and is best steak on property--to us:thumbsup2 were doing both again this trip in 67 days:dance3:

We really didn't care for Boma at dinner, but we loved their breakfast buffet! Kona had pretty good food (the sticky wings were really good) but the atmosphere is lacking, due to its location. Depending on where you are seated, you may end up against the lobby, which is usually loud, loud, loud. That distracted us from the meal itself.

I haven't been to Boma. Buffets in general do not appeal to me. However, of Disney's buffet offerings, I think Boma is the one that piques my interest most.

I really like Kona for dinner, especially now that the Kona Island Sushi Bar is part of the offerings. I think that between the excellent sushi rolls and appetizer offerings, it's possible to construct several good dinners there without ever glancing at the entrée menu.

Haven't been to Kona but really enjoyed Boma. They have this amazing soup, the name escapes, but I could have bathed in it!

We did not like Boma for dinner.

Both DH and I love spicey foods (which is what we were told it was)...but spicey doesn't mean "hot" we found out. Boma uses spices like cinnamon, vanilla and fruit flavors in EVERYTHING.
The meats were rubbed with it, the side dishes all had them, even the soups! Everything had a sweet tone to them. We sampled every dish trying to find something that wasn't sweet. The only thing was the chicken nuggets and mac/cheese off the kids station. Everything else tasted like a holiday dessert.
It was not for us.

As for Kona, haven't been there.

Never been to Kona for Bkfst. But a big thumbs up to Boma for dinner. A great selection fo different foods with a few "safe" options for the less adventurous.

Boma is one of my favorite dinner places. I haven't tried Kona yet but I have reservations for my next trip because I've wanted to try it.

The meat (prime rib or roast?) we got at the carving station wasnt sweet or if it was i didnt notice it but it was very good! The dipping sauce i got was sweet though, but they had a couple to choose from. They also had falafel with a dip that was sooo yummy too! Very good salad dressings and pasta salads. We loved it and are going back!!! Havent been to Kona

We ate dinner at Boma three trips in a row but had enough for a while and haven't been back for 6 or 7 years. Kona has become a 'must do' for us. We enjoy the food but also like to visit the Poly. We often stick around to watch Wishes or have a drink at the bar.

:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

It wasn't Prime Rib...was suppose to be. It was a strip loin and yes it had a light cinnamon rub on it. The roasted chicken as well, even the salmon was sweet. Every meat we had notes of sweetness to it.
Not horrible...just not our tastes.

I wish i would have tried the salmon and the chicken now! I filled up on the one meat and the other goodies! :lmao: Next time im trying more. You're right different taste for everyone :thumbsup2

Boma and Kona are two of my favorite restaurants on property. Kona has really good, Asian-inspired food, and I've never had a bad meal there. Plus I love the bread they serve with dinner. Boma is an extremely unique buffet, and I've always found the quality there to be very high with very tasty food. I love the soups and hummus there, and the desserts.

I really wanted to love dinner at Boma but we didnt..not at all. I guess we were not prepared for the food items to be so sweet, lots of vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg type spices on all the non dessert foods.

Kona was ok but there are much better places out there

Hmm I was hoping to maybe try Boma on our next trip since we are staying at AKL but now I am not sure. I don't like sweet food that I want to be savory/spicy if that makes any sense!
