What do you think of this?

Leaving a towel sounds like a really good way to have a towel stolen!

That is exactly what I was thinking! If I left a mere towel in a place on the sidewalk which I had reserved for myself, even if I had a big honkin' sign on it that said "THIS TOWEL IS RESERVING A SPACE FOR SHERRY," the only thing I would expect from it would be that the towel would be stolen or tossed aside, or used by someone else, never to be seen again! I think the OP has the right idea - the cranky, angry woman (who was probably miserable and not having a good day at DLR to begin with because she probably doesn't know how to cope in large crowds) just made it worse for herself. I am sure everyone would have tried to be accommodating if she nicely said she left her towel there 6 hours earlier (or however long it had been!) to save a spot. She could have had a nice time with everyone else instead of being so miserable. That is definitely not the Christmas spirit. That's not the Disney spirit, either!

When we were there the last few times, we saw towels and blankets left all the time. Moreso at Fan! Can guests do it? I guess it depends on the acceptance (or lack thereof) of other guests.

Eh, 50/50 shot. It's Disneyland! Although... I'm convinced you could leave a million dollars in the back of a stroller, park it at a ride entrance, and the million would be there when you return.

Or I would think that maybe a CM would pick it up and put it in the lost and found or something since they try to keep the parks neat and tidy.
