MIL, SIL and I went to a brewery last week and had lunch. It's a nice place that serves excellent food and brews it's own brand of beer. You see a lot of families as well as college kids. It's not a bar, although they have one.

Now there was a table near us with a dad and his probably 5yo son. The kid and dad ate lunch together. Dad seemed like a nice guy. It was Wed. at 1pm.

The place has 5 oz trial size glasses of it's beer. They serve 8 different kinds of beer. Dad had one of each. That's 40 oz of beer. It looked really strange to see this man with 8 glasses of beer in front of him; there wasn't really enough room at the table for them and the food.

They weren't bothering anyone, kid looked happy, both well taken care of, but it was a lot (IMHO) of beer to drink at lunch with the kid there. And who drove home? I guess they might have walked, there are houses nearby.

I'm trying to be as neutral as possible, I don't want knee-jerk reactions. I just want to know, what do you think?

Ouch!!!Hard not to be to judgemental for that situation......I probably would have thought the same thing.....To much to drink and drive.........

Are you talking about John Harvards? My local one has the sampler, and I have had it.. it is quite a bit of beer.

We can walk home from it.. but I guess it also depends on how long they stayed afterward, did the food absorb the alcohol, etc...

I guess it's possible that his situation allowed him to do it safely, but I'm inclined to believe that an un-safe situation was much more likely. I'd want to have more control if I were in charge of a small child. Even if they were walking home, it would be nice if he had good reflexes.

I know several people who can drink 40 ounces of beer (especially if they are eating along with it), and it doesn't seem to affect them at all.

Personally, and this is just my opinion. I don't think anyone needs to drink that much alcohol in front of their child. Especially when they are responsible for getting that child home.

No, Cindy, it wasn't the place you said, It's called Freestate.

I'd say the man was in good shape, med. height and weight.

40 oz, isn't that like almost 4 cans of beer?
