What do you think of this DVC auction

::yes:: we are not complaining about the auction on ebay, just the website/password . and you do have to say $14 a point ???
 $5 for info. we welcome:wave2: anyone/everyone to the disboard for free dvc info. whoow, its going to get:crowded:

disboards has been around along time (no offense) - but there was a man who rented his points thru the local paper

Well I just got another nasty gram from this person!! Just glad it was removed - again, not that there was much info that the general public can't know!! But again, the principal of it!

I basically told her I could care less what she did with her points, but putting the password out there was wrong!

By the time I viewed the website, the password stuff was gone. But I still think it's misleading - she talks about buying her points for $14/point. I think that sounds like she selling her timeshare entirely, not renting points. If I saw her auction and hadn't read this first, I'd think I could buy her 150 points for the rest of the 40-odd years that's left on the lease for $14/point. Very misleading and not in the spirit of DVC.

Stupid...Stupid...Stupid..... Thats all I can say about this person showing our password to everyone. I know it's no big thing but................

Buyer Beware

another rude e-bayer out there - seems like these type of people are beyond help

Thanks

Sorry, I found this funny. I guess they shudln't have publised the webiste with password, but really it didn't get me all out of whack to hear that they did. I rmember when we first starting seroiosly thinking about buying DVc reading about the website and password on thsi board. You wodul ahev thought I had to give my first born to get into the site! Finally after I posted we had put our down payment down sevral emailed me the "secreat" password. Really...there is not that much on the site that is so secreat that you coudn't coem over to this board and get the info anyway. I thought I was going to find the answer to life on that webiste! LOL I guess the site is a way for us to feel a littel more special. And as DVC members we are anyway, aren't we? ;)
Plus, they might not have even known that the password was suppossed to be so secretive.
Now, I also got a hoot out of the bid of $ 5 to talk to the perosn. Interesting I guess... Funny. I will be very curuios to see if anyone pays it. $14 a point? Good for them! Wonder if they'll get it? The person that goes on the vacation will still probbaly get a deal?
BUT...I ahve to agree here - it did seem a littel misleading. It almost did sound like you were buying the timeshare permanently, not just for one vacation.

If Disney wanted to, they could get the auction cancelled based on the photo that is displayed. Since it is from the Member Guide, I'm sure it is copyrighted, and it's display violates Ebay policy.

However, I have seen various posts from members wishing points rented for more than $10. This may be the way to make it happen. Even at $14, it is way below rack.:smooth:

He is 'charging' the five dollars so he can get the ad posted the 'Other Travel' Section. On Ebay in order to sell travel you need to get 'certified' and pay another $50 to get the certification by faxing deeds and such to a third party vendor. He is doing this just to get his ad posted. He states he will refund the $5 if he can not get the reservation.

This is actually a good idea !!! It would be interesting to see if it works. Even at $14/pt someone will get a great deal.

If it does work it would be a good outlet for those who feel $9-$10/pt if far to low for a rental price.

Go Howard Dean !!!

PS Yes he should not have put the password out on the ad.

I know giving that user id with a password is going to tick a lot of people off, but when I think about it, I'm really not sure why the dvc page even bothers with the user id and password. It isn't like there is any individual information there. I think it is just a sales gimmick for DVC - when you buy in you get access to this special web site.

True, there is not any real information there that you could not find elsewhere.

What is there is the MS number. Toll Free numbers are not free, someone pays for them. In the case of MS, the cost of those calls to MS comes from our dues. So, even if a guys gets the number, is on hold for a few minutes, and is kindly dismissed by a CM because he's not a member, we just paid for that call.

And, there was a member on hold waiting to get a legitimate ressie while this guy was tying up the line.

OK, good point.

The item is gone! Ebay must have removed it! Good for them!
