Theres alot of debate on these boards about Stitch as a character, over-use in the parks, etc.
My answer's a little more complicated than "I like Stitch" so here goes in prose. I love the movie Lilo and Stitch, and I love the character Stitch in that movie. However, I dislike that the parks marketing department decided to run him into the ground and oversaturate (what year was that? 2006 I think?) the merchandise with him. I really hate that the awesome techology of SIR was covered up to look like a fat cop in the Stitch incarnation, and the ride's no great shakes either. Yuck is pretty much my opinion. Also, I haven't seen the DVD movies or the TV show, so I can't speak to those. So I guess the answer is more along the lines of "I love him in Lilo and Stitch, I dislike what he's become elsewhere."
Hope this isn't boring to those of you who've read this from me before. Stitch is sort of an adoption story. My family adores Stitch especially my adopted sons. My middle child especially identifies with him. Stitch was adopted into a "little and broken, but good" family. Adoption is really a story of brokenness made whole. Just like Stitch.
Stitch was given lots of love and became lovable. He's mischievous and wild, but has a good heart - just like my son. I know everyone has different likes and dislikes - its just hard for me to imagine someone actually hating Stitch. Sure, he's rude and bad at first, but so are lots of little kids who just need to be loved and taught. Most kids aren't perfect little princesses (well... maybe MY daughter). My boys hug him so hard at Disney - they LOVE him. He's a character who's not perfect but is good-hearted and eventually, wants to please the people who care for him. He's willing to sacrifice himself to do the right thing at the end of the movie. What's not to like
?
I think too many people think of Stitch as the rude alien in the beginnning of the movie and forget his "true" character. I'll never forget the time Stitch rode Dumbo with my youngest child on his first trip to Disney. He was 5 and had only been with our family for 9 months. It was his first ride and he was so thrilled. It was so much more meaningful to us than meeting a giant mouse. Stitch is a lot of fun - on the screen and as a character in the parks. Again, what's not to like?
