I was looking at the menu and as long as it has a steak my DH is happy. Has anyone tried the steak and how was it? On our last trip we went to Le Celler and Concourse steakhouse and we loved them both, I was looking for other places to have a steak and came across Spoodles. Any reviews would be great.

TIA,

We didn't care for the place. We showed up on time for our seating and were curtly informed that it would be half an hour and were handed a pager and told not to wander past the bikes. Not two minutes later we were paged and seated in an almost empty dining room. But even almost empty, it managed to be quite noisy--the place is all hard surfaces.

The menu was extremely limited--like five or six each of appetizer and entree selections. None of the entrees really appealed to us so we ordered a selection of appetizers and some wine. The appetizers turned out to be mostly unappealling. There were some terrific dips, but both the flatbread and the calamari were just swimming in grease. I wouldn't go back.

We went to Spoodles in January and I was not impressed with it at all. We didn't go back and in fact went to Olivia's at OKW afterwards. Probably won't visit Spoodles again, even if staying at BWV. Just not worth it to me.

We were there in September...our first WDW meal was at Spoodles. DH is a real "steak and potatoes" guy but we both had pasta. We both thought it was good! We liked the four cheese flatbread and the Sangria was MMMMmmmm!! :teeth:

Our waiter, while not overly friendly, was very polite and talkative. He told us how to make the olive "dip" and how to make the alfredo sauce.

We didn't have ADR's as we were a bit clueless...but we were staying concierge so they made a quick reservation for us and we basically got there when it opened for dinner (so no crowds). I didn't think it was particularly noisy (the Cali Grill was MUCH MUCH worse).

I kinda think of Spoodles as a hyped-up Olive Garden...have you ever been to a Johnny Carino's? It's kinda like that with a little more "middle-Eastern" flair...anyway, that's IMO.

We had the breakfast there . . . DH had a bad experience. He ordered the all u can eat breakfast plate and when he was done with his first plate, the waitress never came over to ask him if he'd like more. He waved her down and asked for more and she was just looking at him strangely (like nobody has ever asked for more) and then brought him over a smaller plate (literally small plate) with just eggs and potatos, no bacon, no pastries, he was kinda irked over that . . .since he paid for the all u can eat . . .We never received anything unless we asked, coffee, milk, etc . . .it was pretty poor IMHO.

I am surprised at all the negative comments. Especially the one about Olive Garden!

We ate at Spoodles three times for dinner and once for breakfast on our last trip (1/21-1/28). Every member of our family (a total of 9 people) thoroughly enjoyed everything we had (with the exception of the fettucine alfredo, which was just ok). The steak with sweet potato fries was fantastic, as were the Portugese Seafood Stew and all of the appetizers we tried (pita with dips, lemon garlic shrimp, greek salad).

I can't wait until we go back in November....my mouth is watering!

I say try it for yourself!

I didn't intend for my Olive Garden comment to be negative...I tend to lump all Italian/pasta places into one category.

We actually enjoyed Spoodles quite a bit and will most likely go again next time we're there!

Spoodles was one of my favorite meals. Had the steak and loved it. Great atmosphere. Didnt notice excess noise and it was packed. Here is a picture of the steak on the menu.We had the added shrimp as well.

We ate at Spoodles this past December 2005 for breakfast, it was great. My DH had the All American Breakfast and I had a Fritata. We loved the decor of the restaurant, and we also had a table with a boardwalk view. We would eat breakfast there again.

It was without doubt one of the best meals we had while down at WDW. We were on the meal plan so we decided to eat family style. I got the steak with the add on shrimp and the add on scallops. For some reason, those scallops just didn't get passed around. :rotfl2: They were cooked right the way they should be. They did not sit and get rubbery. Perfect. It was a NY strip. Delicious. They cooked it right to order to a perfect medium rare. The young one in the party with us got the kid's steak and his was done medium, just as ordered. It was superior to the kid's steak at the California Grill. Others in the party had the rigitoni with add on shrimp and the seafood stew. If you do not like spicy foods, avoid the stew. It isn't too spicy, but if you're sensitive to them it will bother you. But it was delicious. At the time, Spoodles allowed the add ons on the dining plan. WOOOHOOO!!! All were wonderful. We got two of the shrimp appetizer, mediteranean dips and a flatbread pizza. One word of warning. Do not order the flatbread Pizza for a child thinking well it's a pizza isn't it? We did. Kid ate my shrimp appetizer and I got the Pizza because he hated it. I liked it though. The portions were plentiful in everythng except the shrimp appetizer. Those were quite small but delicious. If you're paying out of pocket and need to eat on a budget, it's possible for a couple of light eaters to eat one of the appetizers other than the shrimp and one of the less expensive entrees and be satisfied. If you're looking for a nice quiet romantic dinner to whisper sweet nothings in each other's ear, stay away. If you're looking for fancy decor, stay away. It can get rather noisy as there's no carpeting to absorb the noise. But tables are far enough apart that it's not any worse than your average WDW restaurant. All in all we ranked it right up there with California Grill as one of the best places we ate down there.
I ordered Sangria and it was great as well. The others in our party ordered mixed drinks and both were really good.

When I went, the Gnocci could be had by asking for the vegetarian selection but it wasn't on the regular menu.
The chef can accomodate special needs. But as always, phone ahead.

We are returning to Disney next fall. Of the 9 places we ate, we would return to 8 of them. We really only had one counter, and one sit down we wouldn't do again. But we are only planning to return to 3 next time that we did this time. Spoodles is one of them. The other 5 we would do again, but will try other things instead this trip.

Our ADR's were at 7pm on a thursday. It was really busy. A full house. We waited about 10 minutes after arriving at about 6:55.

I'm guessing it depends on the day! We were there for dinner in January and didn't enjoy our meals at all! The place was mostly empty--we didn't have ADRs and didn't wait at all. The service was okay, but nothing special, and the food was mediocre at best (I even sent my very dry chicken back, and I hardly ever send food back!). My dd9 got mac & cheese and didn't care for it, and the peas we ordered for a side dish were hard as rocks (although the carrots were okay). Again, I'm assuming that there are good days and bad days for this restaurant, as many people really seem to enjoy it. Our experience was not at all positive, though, and we won't be returning to Spoodles any time soon!!

Wow I'm surprised at the mixed reviews. We loved Spoodles for breakfast both food & fantastic service. I have 3 ADR's for when we return 2X for breakfast & 1 dinner.

I am surprised also at the mixed reviews. Spoodles was our favorite meal. The Sangria was very good, and the food was excellent. We were on the dining plan and were encouraged to get the add-ons. I had the salmon, which was the best I've ever had. We had guests with us and had no trouble carrying on a comfortable conversation. We had a small wait, but we may have been early for our ADR, I can't remember, but we walked to BI to look at the Christmas decorations. We asked if the pager would work at that distance and were told it would. We looked for a few minutes, and by the time we had walked back to Spoodles our name was called.

I had seen all the mixed reviews before our trip in Nov and decided to give it a try for ourselves. We didn't care for it. It wasn't terrible or anything but just not something I found unique or would care to pay those prices for again.

We much prefer the food at Mama Melrose!

We have eaten at Spoodles every trip since it opened and would not think of skipping it. The four cheese flat bread is like heaven on a plate! They had changed the bread and olive oil dip when we went in Jan. and it was even better than before.

It can be loud at Spoodles. The kitchen is open and there are no carpets to muffle the sound. We like to sit hear the kitchen and watch the chefs.

If you are looking for a good steak in the Epcot resort area, I would also recommend Yachtsman Steakhouse and Flying Fish.

We enjoy breakfast there as well. The french toast is very good!

We just dined at Spoodles on 2/1/06 on the dining plan, and it was one of our top ranked meals! We had 9 table service meals and Spoodles was tied for our second best meal.

I had the Oak-Fired New York Strip for my entree with the add on - the waitress put in the order with one skewer of shrimp and one of the scallops. This was a DELICIOUS steak that I felt was better than the one I had at LeCellier (and I thought that was great at the time too!). The Horseradish-Chive cream drizzle on the top gives it just the perfect little punch of flavor.

For an appetizer I had the Mediterranean Dip sampler and love, love, loved that! There were 5 dips and they all just were so good. I personally favored the feta dip, but there wasn't a bad one in the group.

As for dessert - I had my very first Creme Brulee and thought it was very, very good. It was a Vanilla Bean creme brulee that had fresh raspberries on top and a small piece of biscotti. I thought it would be a heavy, filling dessert - but was happy to taste it was a very nice way to finish a delicious dinner.

The service here was top notch and we loved the "homey" atmosphere.

My DH had the seafood stew which he is still raving about. He had the Garlic Shrimp for the appetizer and loved that too. It was almost like lobster meat - rather than shrimp. And a very generous serving for an appetizer. He had the Gelato for dessert and was pleasantly surprised to be served three scoops of different flavors with some delicious cookies.

The kids had the grilled steak and grilled chicken - which they ate right up. Two had the fruit cup for the appetizer and that was okay...too much honeydew melon for their tastes. My other child has a flatbread which all three found delicious. They ended their meal with a make your own sundae.

I am honestly surprised at the negative reviews for Spoodles - we loved it!
