I haven't tried it and I never will but oh, boy, I REALLY want one.

Agreed. :lmao:

I know a couple guys who tried it and said it was "to die for" - probably literally. The junk food lover in me thinks that it looks SO good, but I don't think I could bring myself to try it.

The amount of calories is the least of my worries when there's that much sodium.

I agree. Sodium is a killer, most processed foods have tons of it (look at the sodium content of a typical can of soup). The latest medical warnings say that sodium is as harmful as cigarettes.

Yep. I can 1/3 of a pound of weight gained over all the sodium in that. :scared1:

Sorry, I don't buy that for a second. They can post what they want. There is no way that the Original Recipe version has less that 1,000 calories.

According to Huffington Post, the Vancouver Sun did an independent calorie analysis for the "Double Down" and concluded the "sandwich" has 1228 calories.

Maybe you are supposed to "double" the KFC calorie count listed. ;)

What a nice marketing scheme for a chicken cordon bleu.

I hadn't been to KFC in years but had to go try it.
Being low carb it was intruquing to have an option with no bread.
We had the grilled one. It was very good......but did cost $5. I think for that I can do better :rotfl:

KFC Original Recipe® Double Down: 540 calories, 32 grams of fat, 1380 mg of sodium
KFC Grilled Double Down: 460 calories, 23 grams of fat, 1430 mg of sodium

From the KFC website.

Do they say each one is two servings?

Actually, they cannot post "what they want". My guess is that (thanks to some FDA rule), the sandwich is technically 2 servings, since a serving is probably one chicken breast. Doubled, you would be getting close to the other analyses...

I agree with the "anything in moderation" part of your post. A few years ago, I would have tried this. It actually looks good to me.

As for the above part of the post, when it comes to calories, they really can post just about anything that they want. There is no single approved method for measuring caloric content in food. As lond as the listing can be proven to have been established using an accepted methodology, it would be hard to prove false advertising.

KFC's management keeps changing their estimate of the caloric content. The latest estimate from them was 590 calories - for the whole thing, not two servings per "sandwich".

For the record, I love KFC... :upsidedow

It comes grilled too :lmao:. For that "healthier" two slabs of chicken.

That makes it so much better ;) For some people having the option of grilled chicken will justify eating the Double Down. I know for me personally, I will never eat one. In fact, just the thought of it makes me sick.

If I liked anything about KFC, I'd get the grilled version and split it in half. But it's way too salty and I don't like anything they make so far so I don't expect that this would be different.

I try to stay away from KFC. This sandwich? doesn't look too appealing to me but I wouldn't mind having just a piece of original fried chicken. That is my favorite. A couple times a year is about all I do go. My kids hate it so that makes it tons easier for me to avoid. :goodvibes

I don't eat fast food anyway but ewww....

In moderation, it's not bad for you. Honest. Your body can accomodate the rare overindulgence. \

Dr. Vogel's brachial tourniquet test would say otherwise.

About once a year, my DD's family and I will have the regular KFC dinners - with the drumsticks, mashed potatoes, cole slaw, gravy, biscuits, etc. - but I have to admit that this "sandwich" sounds rather gross to me..

Just what is it that is between the two chicken patties? :confused3

I read a report somewhere online that says this "sandwich" is actually healthier than most fast food salads. I'll see if I can find it. I don't want to try it, it's just greasy looking.

Found it:

And this isn't the only site reporting this. Just do a google search for "double down healthier than fast food salad" and you will see a lot of different websites offering the same info. Still won't try it...looks gross to me.

Yep, hubby read it to me and a couple of days later I found the article but I can't remember what or where it was, but it listed the calories and fat and sodium in these salads and then in the Sandwich. I was shocked that it was actually better than some of the salads.

That being said, I hate KFC and would never try one.
