I've never been but am toying with having dinner there next month with MIL, DH & my 3 little ones. It looks like a fun place, but I'd like to know more about the schtick - Are the servers funny or are they more sarcastic in nature?

I ask because my little guy is on the spectrum/has sensory issues and might melt down if someone gets pushy with him about finishing his dinner. Funny = okay. Sarcasm = not good.

Would love to hear about your experiences. ;)

We have been there a number of times and have experienced both funny and sarcastic. We have also experienced boring. There is a wide spectrum of servers. If you speak to your server when she takes your drink order I am sure you can avoid any ugliness.

The food is excellent and the atmosphere is wonderful. The peanut butter shakes are to die for.

We had a nice mixture of both when we were there last month. We had "Uncle Dale" and he was HILARIOUS. DD7 kept turning her chair sideways - to have a better angle for the TV but also to elicit a response out of him. Each time he passed by the table, he'd stop and turn her chair back around and push her under the table. He did tell us that sometime recently, he had someone spit out their gum at the dinner table. The only time he said something to DD about finishing her dinner was when the talk about dessert started. He tried to convince us on the PB milkshake - and every 10-15 minutes or so he'd come to his sectiona and say "what's my favorite milkshake flavor?" and we'd all answer "PEANUT BUTTER!". I got the S'mores...can't remember what DH got but I think it was an apple pie or something like that.

I love this place my kids HATE it!

We went the first time when the kids were smaller and my daughter at the time was around 6 and she melted down when they gave her some ribbing about finishing her dinner and taking her elbows off the table.

I make them go every year and even now that they are teens they are like "noooo". We have had them get the whole restaurant to sing Happy Birthday, my cousin didn't finish her meal and they brought her out a plate of french fried covered in whipped cream and sprinkles for dessert, they made me get up and set the table next to us while the family was at it and the last time we were there the waitress hand fed (choo choo train style) my 11 year old her collard greens...boy she didn't care for that but she ate them and afterwards said..."seriously mom, PLEASE don't make me go there again!" :lmao: so I think that may have been our last time...:upsidedow

The food I find is very good...just kind of stick to your ribs down home type food and the shake and decor are awesome. I agree if you think you child may have issues with the "fun" I'm sure if you say something to your server beforehand you should be okay. :thumbsup2

I love the 50's PT DW not so much LOL

I have always gotten a clean plate sticker and she winds up getting the choo choo train for one more bite or no dessert. I love it and the food is good just old fashioned good ole home cookin

One of my fave's

It's a must do for us every trip. We love their food and the antics are quite funny. They really don't bother my husband and I but I have been told to remove my elbows off the table :lmao:

I've found the servers to be pretty intuitive about knowing who to pick on. Have a quiet word with the server before the meal and you should be fine.

DD was always freaked out when she was young about being picked on but thought it was hilarious if I was getting in trouble. We had one wonderful server who kept referring to her as "my perfect angel girl with the lovely manners." Meanwhile, I was fed some of dd's vegetables (that she'd "hidden" on my plate) while the server and the restaurant made airplane noises. :thumbsup2

I LOVE the sound of this place! Based on what you guys have said so far, my kids and I will likely have a very good time, providing I have a quiet word with the server ahead of time. ...but my dh is going to HATE this - and he's not the one I was initially worried about! :rotfl:

He suffered through Whispering Canyon with me on our last trip...I think this might throw him over the edge. :lmao: Perhaps I'll send him and the MIL elsewhere while the kids and I get our fill of airplane noises. :thumbsup2

How about for just two adults (friends, not a couple)?
I had booked this for a party of 5 women, but 3 cancelled the entire trip, so it's just me and another woman. I've never experienced this place, should I cancel it?

When we went the waitress was kinda dry, sarcastic & focused on DH. I don't know if she sensed DD being extremely shy, or if she just goes for the dad. DD didn't finish her food & nothing was said, DH didn't & tried to hide food under a napkin & she called him out in front of our section. lol It was all in good fun, nothing uncomfortable.

We all got the fried chicken & I loved it. DH & DD both thought it was just ok. DD got a free sundae for her birthday. DH & I split a smores... not impressed but it was ok.

I'd go back, but my family is fighting me.

Our experience has been mixed...sometimes great food and great service...other times, great food and not good service at all! The food is yummy and the atmophere is super fun...but the staff is either hot or cold! We have eaten there on every trip....

Yummy comfort food: meatloaf, pot roast, fried chicken... something everyone will enjoy.

As far as the experience, only once have we been there that the CM got into the role, and it wasn't excessive. She did it half heartedly.

You can always give your server a heads up and ask that they pick on dad and not the kids... many of them are more than happy to pick on the adults anyways. You can also maybe put a note on your ADR ??

No don't cancel. On m last visit in September, it was me, my sister and a friend. We had a great time. Our server Carlton was a hoot!

This was my 3rd visit and I just love eating here.

Different strokes for different folks. I personally didn't care for this restaurant even though the two times I've gone we haven't had servers that went overboard. I wasn't thrilled by the offerings on the menu even though I am a meat & potatoes type person. I'd much rather eat just about anywhere else on WDW property as long as it isn't something Asian. I don't care for the shenanigans at WCC either although I enjoy the food there.

We've only been there once, but our server was a dud. She did do anything but act like normal server. We could see that some of the other ones were much better. I guess it was the luck of the draw. She was the same way with the table next to us, so I don't think it was "us."

Will the servers give DH a hard time if makes a substitution for the veggies on any given meal? He does *not* like any veggies and will be extremely unhappy if a server picks on him. He's very much a "leave me alone, don't draw attention to me" kind of guy.

The first time we went here, our waitress was very low key. We enjoyed our peanut butter and jelly milkshakes so much that we went back a second time the same week.

Our second waiter was very into the antics. I thought we would find this annoying, but he was surprisingly entertaining and enjoyable!
