i'm referring to what the u.s government plans to do about the whole wall street crisis.
so what do you think, good idea or bad idea?
personally, i think it's only thing we can do, we just have to hope it works...

i voted i dunno because i really dont know anything about it. Its not suppposed to be as bad as back during the big stock market crash right?

they're saying that it's as worse as the u.s ecomony was after world war II.
that's sounds a bit bad...
but hey, thanks alot to the stupid banks who gave out a crapload of bad loans..

as bad as aftter WW2 oh geez i hope it doesnt get that bad or life is gonna get.....interesting *gulp*

We were talking about this in Current Issues yesterday. I'm not really sure what i think about it.

I have a homeroom teacher who knows a lot about this...he used to work for the government for the DEA department of the FBI. So he knows all the people you would see on the news(President, Senate). He is blaming it all on the Democrats because that is what they do...whenever there is something wrong with anything they tax people. He also said it was there idea to force banks to give loans to people who dont have great financial backgrounds and so they wouldn't get payed back.

I believe everything he says is true, because first off he knows what he is talking about and he doesnt stay with one political party. Another is because he is a great teacher and is pretty cool

if you look at it, it will work. its a complicated plan.

and all of you who think we shouldn't: if we don't, the WORLD economy crashes. chew on that prospect for a few minutes.

It's the only thing we can do. If we don't do anything, like Shelby said, we're screwed. So I'm all for it.

I think we should have a month of just selling lemonade to people...invite all the foreigners and just sell lemonade to them all. It will help us have less enemies and lemonade is the best...lol

thats the best plan ive ever heard and cookies!!!!!!!:rotfl:

I just think it is going to get the U.S. into more debt.

I just think it is going to get the U.S. into more debt.

we are 10 TRILLION dollars in debt.
I honestly do not think that 700 billion more (that we will make back) even begins to matter at this point.

actually guys, to be totally honest, none of us really understand the AMOUNT of money we are talking about here.

if you go back to the day jesus was born (about 2008 years ago?) and if you spent one thousand dollars EVERY DAY until now, you would have JUST recently hit 700 million. not even 700 billion.

Except we aren't taxing ANYONE for this plan. The tax payers basically have nothing to do with it and all the burden is going to be back on Wall Street eventually. The plan is limiting pay to the executives of the bailed out companies and giving the tax payers and equity stake in the companies bailed. Which was suggested by the Democrats and agreed to by Bush.

So...I'm not quite sure what your teacher is talking about.

It's all our fault as consumers.

We just couldn't live without that $500,000 house- so we took out a loan. We needed that $75,000 car- BANK, LOAN TIME!

I'm not for this bailout. I know that we need it, but I don't think it's going to work like the government planned.

I don't really know much about it, but from what I've heard, it seems like the only thing we can do at this point.

Call me stupid, but if the government knew we were in debt and stuff, why did they give out those income tax reform checks? Couldn't they have put it into the economy lessening the debt?

They were hoping that people would use it to pay off their personal debt (like loans and such), but it kinda backfired.

For instance, my mom used it to buy Euros for our trip to France. So, Mr. President, thanks for letting me help the French economy.

What they should have done was to give out somesort of check that can only be applied to a personal debt or whatever. I know that it would have been immensely complicated, but it would have worked better.
