What do you think about booking our flights for the cruise now? I can do it on Continental and their prices don't seem too bad and I'm afraid they're just gonna go higher and higher!!

I was just talking to my sister about the same thing yesterday.

I'm planning on WDW for May 3-8th 2009 and I checked Continental and the fare was HIGH, but still...what if it gets worse? Then again with Continental, if it goes down, you can't just re-book at the cheaper price like with SW. I think I am going to wait until SW comes out with pricing for May. I really prefer Continental, but for our October trip we booked SW for $120 cheaper per person than Continental.

Book it! Book it! Book it! Don't wait. The momentum of the U.S. economy makes me believe airfare will only go up.

I plan to buy our tickets for the cruise as soon as Southwest or Airtran releases them! Hopefully the fares won't be astronomical at the time...

I just looked up May of next year on Northwest and the tickets for roundtrip were around $200 after tax.

We are actually going to buy these tickets now because Airtran for next year during March (Spring Break) was showning upwards of $700 per ticket!

Yikes! :scared1:

I agree with ADP, Book, Book, Book!

It's hard to say... Do you feel lucky? Are you a gambler? If the answer is no, then buy, buy, buy.

We're on the Podcast cruise next May.. I bought our airline tickets Monday nite
NWA Detroit to MCO were $222.00 (incl taxes fees and trip protector). Not thrilled, but I can (will) live with that.

My recommendation if you do book is to go online and check the reservations every so often. When booking form CA to FL in some cases the flights go away months in advance and they put you on a different flight with some slight flight time changes.

Keep an eye out so you know if they do make equipment change or shift flights. Given the massive changes going on I would lock in a flight now and watch them. The odds of the fares going down are slim…..

We booked our flights! $299 p/p r/t from Newark to Orlando via Continental.
Leaving Newark 5/8 and leaving Orlando 5/16 (we're staying 2 nights pre and post cruise). Ok, one less thing to worry about! Next - reservations at Palo (:

If you can book them, I would. Unfortunatly, due to my job, I'm not sure where I'll be flying in from. The good thing, I will most likely use frequent flier miles, so I'm hoping that will work out for me.

The other day I looked to book our flight for the podcast cruise as well! I went to book continental at it was 218 roundtrip I thought to myself this is 2 high especially since I got the same flight last year for 140 roundtrip..anyway i was talking to my fiance a couple of days later and I told him i didnt book it and he said to me ' Are you nuts!!! It's only going to go up!!! He works on the stock exchange and I guess he is paying attention to oil a little more than I am .....anyway today that same flight is 278.00...

We decided to look at the flight everyday for the next month. If it dips below 278 we are booking it.

You can't go buy last years prices. I add $100 per ticket to judge good deals. So if last year it was $215 anything under $315 is a deal!!

My DW and I almost always plan our vacations over a year in advance and we have always purchased our tickets 330 days out (or whatever the airlines allow). And that was when fuel prices were semi-stable. I suggest, and agree with the other posters, that you buy now.

Have a great time.

Dave

Well, you got me curious so I just looked at flights from PDX to MCO and the fare was just shy of $400 each (about double what we've paid in the past). I think I'll take my chances and wait a bit. Also, I've got a couple of free tickets on SW...so maybe that will work in favor if the rates actually go higher (however, it's going to drive me crazy having to wait so long to book anything on SW!).
