What do you take vs. buying there?

We are flying this time, and renting a car, so we'll be stopping for a quick trip to a store before heading to our hotel. If you fly and rent a car, does that change how you pack? I plan on buying diapers and wipes when we are there, since they are bulky and take up a lot of space in our suitcases. Anything else that you normally buy when you're there?

I always buy shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, toothpaste etc. since these things add weight to the luggage and sometimes leak. We also pick up a few snacks and adult beverages since these are more expensive at the resort. We generally eat breakfast and dinner somewhere on property, but skip lunch. A nice afternoon poolside happy hour at the resort with snacks and drinks from the grocery store is nice and saves us a little money.

Take- any over the counter medicines like cold medicine, ibuprofen. They are easy to pack and alot cheaper if you stock up and get them on sale at home.

Buy there- Wine, water, breakfast pastries. We get them at the grocery store. 2 croissants are the price of one on disney property!

We always do a grocery stop at Publix and get water, shampoo and conditioner a few snacks and wine. I find with the DDP we need very little food, just a little something for days when we rush out with no time to stop for breakfast, like pop tarts or breakfast bars. If I had a baby, I'd do diapers and wipes, they are big and heavy.

We fly Southwest so we get 2 free bags per person!:cool1:..So I don't worry about taking up too much space in a suitcase...I pack the diapers in a suitcase..I figure they will be gone by the end of the trip and then there is room for souveniers!:thumbsup2..I double and triple bag items such as shampoo..I have never had a problem.

I had Wegoshop do the grocery shopping..it was my way of pampering myself on the trip!:lmao:

Enjoy! :)

Just make sure you go to something like Publix or Super Target. Do NOT get your supplies at Goodings.

Even when we drive, we typically do a quick grocery stop once we're at our destination. No need to haul a week's worth of food (all the while trying to keep it cold) & supplies for 2 days when there's a store close to the destination. Only things I'd haul would be things you're picky about in case you run into issues finding your favorite brand.

When we know we'll be making a stop by car, the first thing I jettison from the packing list is sunscreen -- I always get it there.

And if we are at Publix (can't speak for all, as we usually hit the one across from the outlet mall) I will encourage DD to buy the gifts for her friends there. Key chains, magnets etc. at about $2, instead of $5 on property.

We go to Winn-Dixie. I applied for their loyalty card, so I get the sale prices. I keep this card with my vacation purse, since we don't have a Winn-Dixie near us.

I take manufacturer's coupons too.
