What do you start with when at the MK?

I bought the UG, and their touring plans advise to start w/ Space Mountain, then hit Buzz, some of the rides in Fantasy Land, and the Haunted Mansion, all BEFORE heading over to BTMR and Splash. This is the one-day MK plan for adults w/o kids.

I've always normally rode BTMR and Splash first (not necessarily in that order), Haunted Mansion, grab a FP for Space, and then hit any other rides/attractions while waiting for our FP time.

What do you do? And if you've used to UG touring plans, do they really work? I'm just afraid to leave Splash and BTMR for later in the day, won't they be super crowded?

We used to go straight through the castle and do Fantasyland first. We now have been going right to Tomorrowland and riding Space Mountain, Buzz Lightyear, Astro Orbitor and then we go back to Fantasyland, Toon Town, then to Frontierland and then Adventureland. Usually we get at FP for either Splash Mountain or Big Thunder, and wait in line for the opposite one. By the time we wait and ride, the FP is usually ready for the one we didn't ride.

This year since we are staying onsite we are going to take advantage of the EMH and try to kick off as many rides as we can in that hour. So, we are heading right to the Tommorowland Speedway, which seems to always have the longest, craziest lines.

After opening if we don't stop and see the characters, we go and get a fast pass for space mountain, then do pirates, BTMR and work our way from left to right around the kingdom. I read somewhere b4 that if given the choice of going right or left 70% of people without an agenda will go right first. Just my 2 cents--

Straight to Peter Pan, then Pooh Bear, because those two have really long lines later on in the day.

We must start with Space Mountain, it's just tradition.

We usually stroll up Main Street and wander over to Adventureland and begin our attractions there. Tiki Birds, Pirates, Splash Mountain, BTMRR and then Haunted Mansion and back through the Castle for a mornings worth of the MK. If I see Main Street is already crowded or we're late getting to the park, we just go up to the Train Station and grab the train to Frontierland and begin our journey there. Very seldom do we start in Tomorrowland, we like that area for the evenings.

We skip around the park our first day. We always hit PotC first as this has been our tradition for over 10 years. And now seeing as PPF is DD favorite we go over and hit that next. If I'm lucky we go back and hit SplMnt. Then we take our time and go through FanLan, ToLa, and then hit main st. for the parade.

We go get FP for splash and get in line for BTMR then we go to Pirates(will be closed when we go next month though...sob...) then hit the Country bears,shootin gallery,alladin carpets before heading to Fantasy land. We like small world and mickeys philharmagic and pooh. We usually try to get a FP for haunted house while we wait at small world.We then go to tomorrowland and then main street last. This usually works out pretty good unless we dont time it right and we get trapped by the parade!

We go straight to Buzz then begin working our way around. When we were at WDW over Christmas, Adventureland attractions were not open during morning EMH; so there wasn't much choice.

We head straight for Splash Mountain and then BTMRR. After that we go across to Tomorrowland and get a FP for Space Mountain. During that time we ride Buzz Lightyear (maybe a few times depending on line length.) After Space Mountain we go into Fantasyland, (usually don't ride anything) and just walk across back to Frontierland and ride the HM. From there we sometimes go to Adventureland and get onto POTC. Sort of random lol, we change it up a few times sometimes lol. However, we always start with Splash Mountain and BTMRR. (This is in July, usually, so the crowds are mostly packed!!)

We have always gone to WDW between Christmas and New Years and have faithfully followed the Unofficial Guide to WDW's camando touring plan. We've never been disappointed. I get the park map the night before from the resort and # the attractions in order. I have on occasion skipped a number, but for the most part with early entry and a family full of Disney fanatics have done all the 'major' rides by lunch and enjoyed a more leisurly pace in the afternoon repeating our favorites. In MK that would be Buzz for my family.

When our kids were little we went straight to Fantasyland since it can get sooo crowded. But now that they're older we head to Frontierland first and ride Splash Mt. and BTMR and then go to Tomorrowland, get a fp for Space and do Buzz Lightyear.

Personally, last time I was in the MK I did all of Fantasy Land first. I know this is a big "no no" according to the UG touring guide, but here was my reasoning behind it:

We got to the park early (first seating for CP breakfast); so when we were done we stationed ourselves at Fantasy Land. The first ride we did was Small World with no wait. We then did Peter Pan with no wait. We then, for the first time, as two adults, rode Dumbo! I have to say that was actually really fun, and it was a minimal wait. We always go in July so it is very busy, and even though we can fast pass some of the rides in Fantasy Land, I enjoy them very much and thought it was nice to ride them all at once with a very small wait. If I'm going to wait in line an hour to ride something, I'd rather have it be a big ride like Splash Mountain (where the Q is kind of nice).

After we finished Fantasy Land we leisurely spent the day at the park getting our fast passes and riding rides with smaller q's in the meantime. Another ride I actually like waiting in line for in the middle of the day is Space Mountain. It's a little piece of air conditioned heaven.

We always take the train completely around the park and eventually get off in Fontierland. We love to ride BTMRR and then Pirates of the Caribbean.
