What do you set your heat at?

We keep ours at 62 at night and during the day when we are not home (and actually, we don't turn it up in the morning since we are only up and around for about an hour), and 64 - 65 at night.

Can I ask why you would set it lower at night? I can see lowering it during the day when the sun is out and your not home, but why freeze all night long? If I had my thermostat as low as some of you I would constantly be sick with colds and ear aches!!

Two words: Electric Blanket! :sunny:

On the slight chance I have to actually run the heat, we have it set at around 72.

I currently have our thermostats set for 70 degrees when we are at home and 68 when we are out and when we are sleeping.

Depending what kind of winter we have my goal is to keep it at 70, down 2 degrees from last year. But I won't freeze in my house to save a money. :cold:

We have a programmable thermostat.

60 during the day (when at work) and at night when sleeping.

64 in the morning before work and in the evenings. I cannot STAND paying for heat, yet I don't mind paying for air conditioning :confused3
I know I keep a cold house, but we wear season appropriate clothing and you really do get used to it.

You could always run a space heater in the rooms you spend the time in instead of heating the whole house.

There is no way I could stand my house lower than maybe 72 in the day and I refuse to do so. I don't know how you guys can keep it so low...more power to you! I really wish I could but I can't.
Simple - we do what we have to do to keep paying the bills! If I set it where I want to to be 'comfortable' for me, I'd also be very hungry, because there wouldn't be much left for groceries! :sunny:

We set it at about 74. But only because DS is still at home. When he goes It will be set at nekkid.

Right now its set at 62 (Im in New England), in the dead of winter I usually keep it at 64-66. I am the type of person that is always cold but the house is very comfortable at that temp.

60-65° for us... 60 during the day and 65 at night...

hopefully that will be good enough :)

And FWIW, I am at home during the day. I would be happy with keeping it that low if it keeps our costs down. In jeans or sweats, I am more than fine! Throw on a sweatshirt or sweater and I'm golden.

Truthfully, anything above 67° feels hot for me in the winter. Though in the summer I let it creep up to 80 during the day.

We have a very small condo and I am unable to stay warm (lots of medical issues), the heater is set at 80 I don't make it any higher or lower.

I forgot to set it the other night and when I woke up it was 53 in the house. Brrr (California girl here)

I also bought a space heater to put under my desk at work, otherwise I'd freeze.

I keep the heat at 62 in the winter and the A/C on 60-62 in the summer

We keep ours set at 68 when we are home 66 when we aren't home. We live in a three year old townhome that is well insulated. Fingers crossed that gas bills won't be too high. I'll have to go on the budget if it gets to bad.

Well, colds are not gotten because a person is cold, but because they have come in contact with a cold virus and their body has not been able to fight it and/or has not been exposed to that particular virus before.

We keep it colder at night because we are under blankets and are warm enough. We all have flannel sheets and my DH and I have an electric blanket that we turn on before going to bed and turn off before going to sleep. The kids don't wake up because they're cold, so I guess they are doing ok.

During the day I can stand lower temps than in the evening because I am moving around (darn housework). In the evening I don't want to shiver when watching tv so we bump the temp up a little before it drops for the night.

We've bought two of those little ceramic heaters this year and we're going to see if we can save a little money by keeping the thermostat lower and just heating up the rooms we use to higher temps with these little heaters. Unfortunately our electric heater isn't all that efficent to start with and we can get some outrageous electric bills in the winter if we aren't careful.

65 unless I get too chilly and then bump it up to 66 for a bit. :cold: So much for "turning the heat down to 68 at night." :cold:
