What do you say when you see a baby that's not so cute?

Today on The View they were saying when Barbara Walters see's a baby that's not to cute she says "now that's a baby" and Meredith says "ahhh look at the baby". What do you say? I say the baby is beautiful. This is one time when I feel a lie is definitely the right thing to say. I mean who cares if your lying. Why not lie? Aren't all babies beautiful anyway.

I would never hurt anyone's feelings by saying anything other than nice compliments - what I think is another matter!

I would probably just say "he/she is really sweet".

Wasn't that a Seinfeld episode? heheh (by the way - your kids are ADORABLE!!!)

I'm horrible and I sometimes make the mistake of calling a boy a girl or vice versa. (oops!) So I always say "what a cutie" or something along those lines.

I would NEVER say ANYTHING bad about a child to the child or the parents...that's just rude...I hope most people have enough common sense to keep it to themselves until they are away from the baby/family. (We can't help what we think - but we CAN help what comes out of mouths)

I would never, ever hurt the parent's feelings. I used to wonder when Ashli was a baby if she was really as cute as she looked to me or not, lol. I knew that I was so biased that she could be horribly ugly and I'd be thinking "Oh isn't she beautiful?".

I'm sure the baby is beautiful to their parents and that's all that matters.

I would never say that I didn't think the baby was cute, just like I wouldn't say anything if I saw an ugly 8 year old or adult. Personally, I don't think I've ever seen a baby I didn't think was adorable, but I would probably comment on another characteristic, like his/her hair or smile.

Fortunately, I had gorgeous babies. I, too, would simply make a comment on something else: happy, sweet, tiny, big, hair/eye color, precious.

All babies are precious. . .but I don't think they are all cute.

My DH once told someone their baby looked like Ross Perot!!! I was mortified when I heard about it!

I can usually find something good to say about any baby!
