Wow.... I love this thread. I have three distinct memories from my first trip in December 1974.
#1. The haunted mansion..... I got separated momentarily from my Mom just as the lights went out (in the stretching room).... the lights went back on and I was facing a CM... scary looking lady in a costume!! YIKES!! I was terrified.
2. Seeing the almost completed Space Mountain.... what a rip off that we wouldn't be able to ride it! (I knew it would be a LOOOOONG time before I returned to WDW).
3. We stayed at the Contemporary. We went to a lower floor to watch the Water parade at night (don't know what it was called) and we were sitting in some sort of arcade area. There was a tv on and I noticed that "Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer" was on. I never missed that show.... so I think I watched the tv instead of the parade!!
My grandparents had visited WDW several times previously and not being be "riders" they had saved most of their tickets (especially the "E"s) and my DB and I were able to use them all! We have color home movies (alas no sound) of this visit. They are treasured. DM had them transferred to VHS about 15 year ago. They are great to watch. Dad filmed from the Skyway.... also filmed the parade. I love to watch that video.... so do my kids! And I still have my autograph book!!!.........................P
