We're staying at the BWV for the first time in April. We stayed at the BCV last January, so we're familiar with the area. Can you tell me about any differences and what you loved about BW? We have three boys, will they love it too (16, 12 and 11)? thanks.

There are so many great things about BWV. Just a few of my favorites:
Keister Coaster
Community Hall and all the free stuff you can do there
Strolling on the Boardwalk
Boardwalk Bakery (YUM)
Convenience of being able to walk to MGM & Epcot
Great CMs
Look and feel of main lobby
Bright airy rooms

:wave2: ::yes::

Thanks, can you tell me what is free at the comm. hall? I like free :D .

I have friends who own at 3 DVC resorts. They also have 3 boys. The boys REFUSE to stay anywhere but BWV!! They are SOOO funny!!!! The parents say things like, "All resorts are WONDERFUL"!! And, the boys respond with, "If you put us anywhere but BWV...we're NOT going!!" These boys are 16, 8 & 6.

They LOVE being right "on" the BWV...the boys adore people watching on the BW view. They love community hall. I have not stayed there, yet....maybe someone can elaborate on this...but, I guess there is a place where kids can go get popcorn and hotdogs (either free or very cheap?). The boys have mentioned that, along with free movie rentals a LOT!!!

I think they also like the fact that mom and dad will often let them "run" places by themselves (but, the three boys have to stay together)...like, to the bakery, or to get a corn dog, or to a souvenier shop on the BW.

The boys feel that BWV is "right in the middle" of everything...and, that is where they want to stay!!

They are SOOOO funny about "the boardwalk"!!

Community Hall and its proximity to the "quiet" pool a favorite for our family. Being able to walk to EPCOT and MGM is wonderful and the BWV has the best pool bar of all of the DVC resorts.:drinking1

What I love about BWV is being able to walk to places like:

MGM, Epcot, ESPN Club, Spoodles, JellyRolls, Fantasia Mini-Golf, restaurants at Swan and Dolphin, Beaches and Cream, etc....

No bus, no car, no parking, no traffic!

We like the combination of "middle of it all" location and the lower points Standard View rooms.

We keep meaning to try out our SSR points at SSR, but just can't seem to justify the higher points prices for rooms "way out there" by DTD, compared to lower points price at our original "home" at BWV. Must be the Scottish heritage coming out, this need to be frugal with our points.

I also like the views: Standard, Garden, Pool and of course Boardwalk; I like them all. I also love the open and airy rooms and theming and the "Evil Clown" pool. But it's "home" after all, so why shouldn't we love everything about it?

FREE or VERY CHEAP at DVC? Don't think so.

we are heading here too in April - like the point value and the location.

We enjoy being able to eat around the world in Epcot and the variety of restaurants at your doorstop.

We have gone into Epcot just to ride Test Track and came back.

I have yet to master finding our way around this place though. we have only stayed here once, but we visited our friends here while we were at BCV.

My husband prefers WLV - but that is dark and I feel that we aren't near anything - I like it too, but prefer BCV or BWV for the location.

It is airy bright and beautiful!

When I was there a few weeks ago they had (at no charge):

Ping Pong
Air Hockey
Foosball
3 different video games
DVDs (you can borrow up to 3 a night, you must return them the next day but you can check them right back out again if you want to)
Videotapes (same rule as DVD's)
(In case you aren't aware the villas have a dvd/vcr in the living room, so the free dvd/videos can come in handy)

They also have some free organized games for the kiddies (ie times listed to meet at the pool for pool games)

There's also a couch and a TV there. I think I remembered it all, but if not please anyone feel free to jump in and remind me.

ITA, it's tough to get around the first couple of times, the shape of the resort is unusual. I brought the map the resort hands out with me at all times, and by the middle of the second trip I took there I wasn't getting lost any more.

I love:
the fact that you can walk to both Epcot & MGM (& mini-golf too)
the activities on the Boardwalk
the shops on the Boardwalk
the restaurants on the Boardwalk
the pool.

We own at VWL but love BWV!

Walking home from Epcot at night

The lobby

The feel of the resort

Valet Parking

The slide

The BoardWalk area

Taking the boats

How about being able to stagger back to your room after an evening at Jellyrolls???!!!! :drinking:

Well, for me it's the wonderfully surreal experience of being vomited by a giant clown. Where else can you do that?

We somehow started the tradition of stopping off at the Bel Vue Room on our way back to the room in the evenings. We really enjoy the ambience of this little bar with the radio show playing in the background.

Even when convention folks find the place, they usually clear out early since they have to WORK the next day!

Oh I was under the impression EVERYONE has a pool like this in their yard. Or is my neighborhood unusual?

:rotfl:

My GC love the Boardwalk.

We did an add-on just for them at BVC so they could have SAB. They like this but they like BW better.

They love all the things going on in the evening--magicians, musicians, games, etc.

Can someone tell me when the this takes place?
I have been to the BW many times in the evening (although never stayed at BWV/BWI), and have yet to see the 'streetmosphere'.

We go during very busy times of the year and there is usually something going on on the Boardwalk. They had tons of stuff going on last year between Christmas and New Year's. We ate at Spoodles on New Year's eve and had a table that was at one of the big openings to the Boardwalk and a magician performed right next to us and had tons of people gathered around. I'm sure they were really just wanting to see what the HBC family was eating but we didn't mind.

Of course MG, it could be you. Maybe security alerts the performers when you arrive and they all head to the VWL.;)
