I just turned 35 a couple weeks ago and my mother still makes baskets for my sister and me. We both love it! I tend to do the same hting my mom did while I was growing up - very little candy with small gifts, instead.
This year, DS12 will be getting:
One Reese's peanut butter egg
Pack of 5 Lindt chocolate bugs
One pack Cadbury chocolate eggs
Cubs' pullover
Pez dispenser
Bubbles (a tradition - they go in every year)
Dry erase board
POTC pin lanyard
$50 Toys 'R Us gift card to be used for a bike
DD5 is getting:
One Reese's peanut butter egg
Pack of 5 Lindt chocolate bugs
One pack Cadbury chocolate eggs
Peter Pan DVD
Pez Dispenser
Bubbles
Kelly doll dressed in pink bunny suit
$50 Toys 'R Us gift card to be used for a bike
I normally don't do big gifts like the GC's for the bikes. However, this year they could both use a new bike. DH and I were going to buy them at Christmas, but decided to wait til Easter since the weather would be better (we're in Chicago).
Two years ago we went to Virginia Beach over Easter. I used beach buckets with attached shovels instead of baskets. I put in a new bathing suit for each along with some sunscreen, sunglasses, beach toys, etc. Last year, I did a gardening theme. Each child got a small metal shovel, gloves, seeds, etc. One year, DS really needed a new garbage can for his bedroom. I used that for his Easter basket. He was also starting baseball a couple weeks after, so he got a new protective cup, socks, cleats, etc. He was quite embarrassed by the cup!!

I usually like doing theme baskets. However, no theme this year!
