What do you pay for lawn care?

DH and I are almost 100% sure we are going to get a lawn care company to take care of the mowing and leaf raking next year. We are doing some general landscaping improvements this year which is the only reason we are putting it off. DH doesn't have the time or energy and I don't either, frankly. Lots of people in our neighborhood have lawn care service and since it's not a wealthy neighborhood it can't be too pricey, but since none of the neighbors I actually speak with use a service, I can't ask them. I know I can call around for quotes but I'm lazy today!

I know this varies based on the COL in various areas but I'm just trying to get a ball park idea.

This would be for mowing and raking, not lawn chemicals or watering.

It really depends on the acreage as well as the area. It's $50-90 for our yard in Ohio suburb and it's 1.5 acres. It was $50 at our old house which was 1/2 acre 5 yrs ago. It also depends on if you can find a teen or hire a professional. At my office, we pay $200 for mowing, trimming, weeding,etc. once a month and he mows weekly for less. DH does ours, we bought a zero turn so it's fast. We have a rental that has a small yard , front only (takes 15 min to mow included getting the mower out of the shed) we asked one of the tenants to do it for $20 a time (we have the mower and gas there) and they declined. Now at $80 a month off rent, I would have done it when I rented!!!

We pay $60 a week. They mow, blow and go!!! They do occasionally spray for weed control at no cost. Fertizlizer and mulch is an added cost for materials but not labor. We do our own weed pulling and pruning.

We live in an average income subdivision in the city with landscaped front and back yards.

We have a super small yard. We pay $25 per cut (generally weekly, but in the heat of the summer when it's growing slower they may drive by and skip it) and they edge every other week. Everything else is extra at our request.

I'm in Southern California, in the Inland Empire. Front & back lawn (although the back lawn is tiny), trees (mainly palms), bushes.

$55/month. He comes at least twice a month, sometimes weekly, for that price. He rarely does weed control unless I point out to him where the weeds are that I want him to pull.

We don't use one but I know our neighbor, with less than 1000 sq feet of actual yard paid $25 per week last summer.

We pay a guy (Twenty-Something) in our neighborhood $35 per cut. We also pay a lawn care company to weed and feed. Don't remember how much we pay them. We have a third of an acre. To me it is totally worth the $35 per cut because it used to take me over 3 hours to cut, bag, weed whack, and blow.

My mom pays $90 a month for cutting a half acre yard, edging and leaf blowing. Had this guy for a year, previous guy was charging $90 but wanted to raise it to $120, so mom shopped around, everyone bid $90.

I am in a high COL area - my contract is $180/month (year round) for a fairly small but highly landscaped yard, which covers weekly mowing from April through November, a spring clean up/prune/re-mulch, a fall clean up/prune, gutter cleaning in fall and spring, leaf collection about 4x in the fall, and fertilization/aeration. They basically do everything except weeding in the summer under that contract.

We're in Northwest Florida and pay about $50 per visit. Our guy mows, trims and edges, and blows. We don't have any elaborate landscaping. Our lot is 100'x150', I think, with 3200-ish sq of it taken up by house+garage+Florida room. When he trims the bushes or other maintenance, it costs extra.

Southeast Alabama here, and we pay $30/month. Not sure what size lot we have, but our front yard is a decent size and on a hill, so not the easiest to mow. They spread fertilizer and everything, too.

Similar here - $150 for a 60 x 100 lot, with 1/4 of the backyard having a large play set (not needing lawn care). Ours is only 9 months, and we pay extra for leaf removal ($400), and no gutter cleaning.

We pay $30 a visit for mowing and trimming. This year our 14 year old dd is going to do it and at the end of the summer it will cost us a new video camera for her. Works out better for us in the long run!

Our landscaper charges $25 per week.
$100 for spring clean up
$125 for fall clean up
$30 to clean the gutters

The going rate around here is $25 a week. This guy happens to be pretty cheap when it comes to the clean-ups though.

Ours charges by the square foot, your mileage may vary. I've got 10,000 square feet of lawn at the NY house. At the Florida house it's done by the HOA and is included in my HOA fees.
