I didn't think uk walkie talkies worked over in the US either, i would also be interested in finding this out Sue

Don't you ever have problems getting even blunt metal knives into the US Becky?

Walkie-talkies bought in the UK would work, but the frequency they operate on is not licensed for public use in the USA. I guess that you would therefore be using them illegally, although I have no idea if this is enforced by the US authorities.

Marmite, everyone in the group seems to think this very important, me I think it is the worst thing ever. Last time we ended up spending 2 dollars on the smallest jar i had ever seen.

Anthony

Yes Anthony,

Strange how most groceries are much cheaper in the US,except the things from home we really miss like Marmite and decent t-bags:(

I must admit that i've never actualy tasted Marmite except the Walkers Marmite flavour crisps,(I suppose that doesn't count?);)

Luv Audrey,

Fairy non-biological washing powder (as we all have sensitive skin and daren't risk using anything else even just to wash socks!)

Ovaltine - I can't drink coffee or tea so live on this stuff - don't know if they sell it is US or not as I don't consider supermarket shopping part of my holiday! ;)

Calpol - just in case!

Weekly Planner and Daily Plans (all typed up neatly!). :D

Water bottle - to fill up at the fountains, we find the water OK and it's much cheaper than buying bottled.

But most important of all - CADBURYS CHOCOLATE!! I'm sorry but I think the US chocolate is quite disgusting! On our first trip, I couldn't wait to try the famous Hershey bar and my illusion was shattered! We will be taking our usual tubs of Miniature Heroes and Celebrations - great for fitting in the bumbags! :D

All right now this thread is cracking me up! So I just have to add my two cents (pence)!

Mazzy - of course you can get Ovaltine here. We're not that uncivilized. Also, I use ALL-Free and Clear for washing our clothes (I break out in hives otherwise). It's a liquid detergent and I've never had problems with finding it in Florida. I believe the difference you guys are noticing in the wash is due to the machines. Front loaders just do a better job (that's why I have one). :p

Wilkie - yes, we have potato mashers. I'm swinging mine at the computer as I type. You must have been talking to one of those idiots who work at Wal-mart. You could just use a mixer also.

It's a FANNY PACK folks!!!!!!!! Bum pack sounds ridiculous. Yes, I know what it means over there. But, while in Rome . . . yada, yada, yada. So while in the states you are hereby ordered to refer to it as a FANNY PACK! No snickering allowed. ;)

Now for the most important item to pack for your trip to WDW! DRUM ROLL . . . . an EMPTY SUITCASE!

Right with you there Mazzy I don't like US Chocolate either - so I tend to stick to the cookies whilst I'm out there :)

Olaf - I figured to leave the whole bum bag/fanny pack confusion aside and go for a waist pack - I can fit a whole lot more in :)

Yes American chocolate is disgusting, so for me a chocaholic I find it very difficult.......they did sell Creme Eggs when we were there in February - they even had the same silver foil wrapper and everything - they were awful. I even tried eating Suchards and Lindt chocolate which was nice.

But now I have discovered they sell real Cadbury's and Mars chocolate in the Tea Caddy at Epcot - flakes, dairy milk, mars bars - the works. Ok, it is a little more expensive than at home but its worth every cent.  :D :D :D :) :)

I wasn't very keen on the Hershey bar either, but we did have the Nestle crunch bar and it was delish!!;)
The Reece's(spelling?) peanut pieces were lurvly as well but when you need a choccy hit anything will do!
Steph, the fanny pack thing always has me in stitches;)
DD was afraid to say the word FANNY as she thought it was rude!:o

Have to admit to much SNICKERING:rolleyes: every time she said the word he he!(sorry Steph!)

I didn't realise you could buy Cadburys chocolate in the Tea Caddy Maleficent, good tip!

Here's a tip for those who, like me, hate writing postcards - print out address labels before you go. Not only does it mean that you won't forget anyone but it also means that it cuts postcard writing time down. Of course, if you're anything like me it also means that you won't get the address wrong and have to start again

Another very useful item that we took was an insect bite pen from Boots. It stank to high heaven but did the trick. I was bitten a few times but after using the pen the bites didn't itch and disappeared quite quickly. :D

Edie,

That's a really great tip about the labels, I've never heard that one before!

Have to agree on the insect repellent pen, i used one the first time we went and found it real handy and easy to use:D

Thanx for the tips Edie!:bounce:
