what do you pack?

I am curious about what everyone packs for their kids in terms of clothes, accessories? I have read that you should pack 2-3 outfits a day. I will likely do a quick load of laundry some afternoon when we are poolside though...so maybe I do not need to pack this much? who knows. So I would love to hear what you all pack for the kids and also for yourselves. I do not plan to bring sneakers as I know neither kid will even consider putting them on in the heat, they both hate hate hate their feet to be hot.

I only pack one outfit per day for my DS3, then I pack an extra couple in case of spills, but I always come home with some clean clothes without having to do laundry. When we were there in July, I didn't pack sneakers either, I'm with your kids, I hate having hot feet. I also packed a couple $1 rain ponchos from the dollar store.

But when we go in January, I usually overpack because I never know if we'll need pants or shorts or both. :confused3

You know your kids better than anyone. Do they go through several outfits a day at home? If so, I'd pack for it.

I think 2-3 outfits a day would be a lot of luggage! For myself, I pack one outfit for each day of the trip and then I pack one extra outfit in case of spills or rain. I do rehang my flight outfit since it's not too dirty for another spare. I wear my walking shoes and I pack my water shoes (for pool, water parks, rain).

For my husband and three teenage sons, I do the same - 1 shirt/shorts per day, 1 extra set and then they always buy several t-shirts during the trip. I also have them wear their walking shoes and I pack their water shoes.

Water shoes take up so much less space then their size 12 tennis shoes!

I would say walking shoes are a must, unless your daughters will ride in a stroller. Of course, they are good for the feet, but also protection in the crowds of people rushing for rides or after parades.

We normally go for 8 days. Two days are travel day so that is 1 outfit each (possibly 2 depending on the time we get in/swimming). One day is the off day.

But for each day I bring 2 outfits for each dh & I. We return to our room mid day & relax, swim, shower again so we want clean unsweaty clothes.

For the kids they also get 2 outfits per day but I do pack an extra few outfits.

I do laundry every other day or on the thrid & 6th day during our mid day break (I think last trip I did every other since it was 4 of us & that's alot of laundry to do every 3rd day & next year it will be 5 of us).

We used to bring lots of clothes when it was just dh & I. We never wore half of what we brought since we always did laundry so we wore our comfy/favorite outfits. So I stick to that & just bring lots of laundry detergent.

I didn't even bring sneakers for me last trip because I knew I wouldn't wear them & I didn't. I brought one pair of shoes, the same shoes I wore every day up to that trip. They work for shorts & a bathing suit so it was perfect.

For my boys what I did was I packed all of their clothes each outfit in it's own gallon zip loc bag. I think I brought enough clothes for one outfit per day, plus a couple of extras.

We had a Washer and Dryer where we stayed so if something got dirty or soiled I just washed it when we got home that night. Then we still had it for the next day. I think all of the Resorts have a laundry facility so you can wash clothes and not have to pack a closet. Use it! I think most people at Disney won't take a toddlers outfit sitting in the drier. So start a load, take the kids swimming, put in the dryer, come back after you are dressed.

But I had a backpack, and everyday I put a change of clothes in there for both of them. I just grabbed a baggie for each and made them where water sandles so they could still play in the water and not worry about socks! The extra clothes came in really handy because my 2 yo would get so entranced with what was going around he would forget to alert me that he needed to go potty! :)

I do the ziplock baggie thing too! It's great! I just hand my kids a baggie in the morning, and they are good to go. It takes up less space, and I don't put dirty clothes back in so I have to be sure to leave enough room for the return trip. I pack one outfit a day plus about three extra. If we take a midafternoon break and change, I hope they don't get dirty, and we wear the evening outfit again. Usually it works for me, but not the kids!! Happy packing!

Me too, sort of. 1 outfit per day + 1 extra that stays in the park bag. That was my theory. BUT I always find myself doing laundry at least once during the trip.
Last time it was because newly potty trained boy + excitement at WDW = a few minor accidents, so who wants those clothes sitting around unwashed!

Whew! My husband looked at me like I was crazy at the start of our trip! But made a believer out of him by weeks end! It really works!

We do one outfit a day, plus one extra. Two bathing suits so one is always dry. I usually try and do a load of laundry about two or three days before the end of the trip. I like coming home with some of the clothes clean and it also gives us clothes to wear in case we went through more than one outfit a day, which is rare.

As far as shoes, we usually do one pair of sandals. We do not do water shoes. They look so dumb to me and I just don't understand the point of them, but I know there are people that like them.. :lmao: The kids wear sneakers down on the plane usually, since it is too cold at home to wear sandals down. That way we know that we have a back up. The outfit we wear on the way down, is the same outfit we wear on the way home.
