We will be on the Disney Dining Plan and wondering if we should order some things from Garden Grocer. What do you order from them? It's me, HH and DS 3 who is not in diapers.:banana:

TIA

Greetings, If you are on the dinning plan you may not need to place an order. If you do place an order it must be a $40 min. Typically if I order I get things like a case of water, snacks, and breakfast items. :cheer2:

We always have the dining plan and we order from GG every year. We get a case of water, diet coke, juice boxes, cereal, milk, fresh fruit, and some snacky things (pretzels, cheese and crackers, cookies). We always eat breakfast in the room and save our meal credits for lunch and dinner. Eating breakfast in the room also saves time.

We get milk, orange juice, cereal, bagels, fresh fruit, granola bars, bottled water, cans of soda, bread, peanut butter, and chips.

We do mainly breakfast items....individual cereal boxes, milk, juice, bagels, cream cheese. We always do breakfast in the room as it saves time, we can eat it on the go, and the kids are much happier having eaten than waiting to get somewhere to eat.

We get cereal, milk, bowls, spoons, paper towels, cups, and bottled water. If you are on the dining plan, I wouldn't get snacks. We had so many snack credits left over, we took home Disney snacks.

This is pretty much what we get.

DD was too young for DDP last trip so we bought cereal, snack items, uncrustables, juice boxes, crackers, small finger foods, etc. for her. And beer for DH.

I'm going down in a week and we are going to be there for 14 days. We are on the dining plan but I still managed to rack up a pretty hefty GG order! DD is only 1 and is not on the dining plan so I had to order some things for her because she is very limited as to what she can eat...she only has two teeth so far! Some of the things I ordered are:

-Water
-Juice boxes (I LOVE Capri Sun and we can't get it in Canada)
-Mini muffins (for mornings and snacks for DD)
-Whole Milk
-Whole Milk yogurt
-cereal
-bowls/spoons
-diet pepsi (DH and I HATE coke)
-diapers/wipes/disposable changing pads
-Bananas ($.45 each)
-Cantaloupe
-Kraft Cheese + Crackers
-goldfish
-cookie/cracker mix

Basically we have breakfast in the room covered for the mornings we won't be eating breakfast at a restuarant/counter service place, we have water/juice for everyone snacks/milk/baby supplies for DD and a few snacks and pepsi for DH/DS/me. We will be spending 4 days off property (Sea World, USIOA, beach and Kennedy space centre) so we have items we can take to eat while there and just supplement while in the parks/at the attraction. I also don't want to use my snack credits for water and such which is why I bought a case. I will not be drinking tap water there (for medical reasons) although my family probably will at certain points.

I think we will have just enough snacks to get us through. If I need to use up snack credits on the last day, that's fine because I'll have treats for the plane, but honestly, since we have a 1 year old to feed...I really don't think we will have any extra credits!

Silly question but do those who are ordering milk, juice etc also rent a fridge or do you stay in accommodations where a fridge is provided? I'd like to place a GG order but value resorts do not include a fridge.

Just curious in case there is something else people are using to keep items cold that I hadn't thought of.

We order milk, cases of water, soda, juice, snacks and breakfast items.

We stay in a suite with a kitchen so we usually get a frozen pizza or two for the days that we are at the pool all day.

I ordered juiceboxes, goldfish, water, soda, mini muffins, pretzels, chips etc. I ordered way too much with the dining plan but I definitely needed more snacks and drinks than were provided. If I didn't have a fridge, I would just get snacks and juiceboxes because my kids drink them at room temp.

I am staying in a value and since I have ordered milk products I need a fridge. I requested one fully expecting to have to pay for one but after talking to the CM on the phone, she wrote it down as a medical need because DD NEEDS to have whole milk and I need to keep it cold. Therefore I don't have to pay for the fridge which is great!

When DD is older I will still either request and pay for a fridge, stay at a resort that has a fridge, or participate in a fridge swap!

We usually stay in a moderate so we have a fridge. If you are in a value, you can rent one. Otherwise, I woudl probably stay away from milk and juice and just buy it daily.

I am visiting in a couple of weeks, and my friend who just came back (she stayed at the Contemporary) gave me some tips about ordering from Garden Grocer (we are both on the dining plan):

Order bottled water to save the snack credits for actual snacks;

Order heavier toiletry items to save on baggage fees (like hair care products and other bottled items);

Order snacks and breakfast items for the room to use meal credits for lunch and dinner;

Call your hotel in advance and ask how they handle the orders when they arrive - some (not all?) keep cold foods cold until you are ready to pick the order up from the front desk. Garden Grocer allows you to pick a date and time for delivery. Also, my understanding, is that you can request a refrigerator, but others here likely have more information on that.

I hope this is helpful. I have not used Garden Grocer in the past, but am doing so this time because my friend spoke very highly of them.

On a related note, if you have to order from Diapers.com (seems like you don't!), they have a 1-2 day delivery policy. My friend, however, discovered this does not hold true on the weekends. So, if are arriving on a weekend, be sure to call diapers.com and arrange a specific delivery date.

Have a great trip! :goodvibes

So, I have another GG question for everyone. How much do you tip them? I'm not sure we will be there when our food arrives so I want to add my tip to my bill when I check out. How much should I add?

Another GG question.. On the GG website it says:

Hotels That Currently Offer Bell Service Drop Off:
- Animal Kingdom Lodge
- Swan and Dolphin Resorts
- Disney's Polynesian
- Grand Floridian
- Disney's Contemporary Resort (Bay Lake Tower)
- Coronado Springs
- Beach Club
- Disney's Yacht Club
- Disney's Bonnett Creek
- Disney's Boardwalk Resort

We stayed at CBR last year and I'm sure they held our order until we arrived. Does anyone know if this list is correct?

We love GG and haved used them on two trips, one value and one mod.

1) ASMusic we bought from them water, pop, MILK and breakfast stuff. We actually bought a styrafoam cooler from them and filled it with ice daily to keep the milk cold. Worked out great!

2) CBR they had all our groceries cold when we arrived. The actually drove us, our stroller, and all the groceries to our room. worked out perfectly!
