Planning our first trip and loved the first timers thread, but I was wondering what are the things I shouldn't go to the park without?

My thoughts

A plan
Sunscreen
Sunglasses
Ponchos

Any other suggestions?

Thanks

Tickets
Reservation Confirmation #s
Money
Sunglasses (wish we had carried these)
Ponchos, just in case (had to use ours this year - 2x)
ADVIL
DRAMAMINE

This is all we had in our bag this year and it wasn't that bad to carry.

interesting, I think you are the first I have heard that doesn't enter with a huge bag full of stuff

DH is leaning towards doing this, doesn't want a lot of baggage so to speak.

Do you travel with kids and do this?

Thanks
Kari

easy to carry Snack food. slim jims or crackers
koolaid singles - again easy to carry
gum - are you seeing a trend?

I always like the last few days of the trip because we seem to carry less of the heavy stuff - cameras and camcorders. The best days are usually the ones not carrying anything...

I always have a small plastic sandwich bag in my pocket. I use this to hold my cell phone and camera to keep dry on water rides.

i have 3 kids. on our last trip last month they were 3,4 and 8. we used to carry the world into the world. but it just got to be a hassle. when our kids were in diapers of course we carried those too.
but things like sunscreen. we found that to be a waste. we always went back to the resort for a midday swim so we just reapplyed there. we would keep it in the car though(i despise the buses, wont step foot on one).
other things like hats and sunglasses, unless you are actually going to keep them on your body the entire time, are just baggage. my youngest did have sunglasses, but he wore them around his neck, so i dont count them as something we 'carryed" into the parks.
plus the ponchos i dont even carry. they go under the carriage and stay there unless we are using them.

Chapstick
Advil
My camera (with a baggie to put it in for extra protection on wet rides and in the rain...that's a GREAT suggestion!)
Poncho
Cell phone

These are definitely my essentials.

We were just there last week.
We didn't carry a bag.
Tickets in pocket, camera in other pocket. Sunglasses on head, money in pocket.
It was great, left hands free for shopping.;)

The less the better. I am always the one left to carry the bag so to speak so we don't bring much. I bring a small sunscreen called faces for the face since we are very fair and burn so easily. I carry money, tickets, a laminated ressie page, a large and small ziplock bag (because I am anal and like to double bag for the wet rides), camera, sunglasses on my shirt or head, and that is it. The camera bag is for my belt, and everything fits in that. I like to be hands free.

Extra camera batteries:)baggie to put camera in for wet rides, hand sanitizer.

On my head are my sunglasses and usually a hat.

I wear my park tickets around my neck and so does DH..with one of those little holder things from Walmart (another great tip from my Dis peeps:)

In my overland donner bag are:
Dramamine
Motrin
Eye drops
Sun screen
HAND SANITIZER!!!!
Camera
Wallet

We will also bring a soft sided cooler in the parks (but it will stay in the stroller) with frozen water bottles, sandwiches and some snacks for the kids, granola bars for me and DH.

If I'm going without kids.....just the tickets, money, hat, and sunglasses....with the kids I add a camera and depending on time of year, I add ponchos, water bottle, and one of those waterbottle/fan combos. We apply sunscreen before we go and never have had a need to reapply. I have a travel backpack that I LOVE and if it doesn't fit in there it doesn't go! I also agree the lighter the better!

Don't forget the band-aids! Necessity with young kids, as well as for blisters from walking. I always carry them, because the one time I didn't, I needed one. And they don't take up any room!:thumbsup2

This are all great things, I am leaning towards a small bag, messengers I think they are called, just big enough for sunscreen, hand sanitizer, and a few necessities.

Thanks for all the suggestions

I like to go bagless.

I travel light in the parks - well, as light as a 275lb guy can travel - and don't even stop for those bag check lines at the entrances. I carry no spare lenses, no camera bags (no bags of any kind), no full-size tripod. But I have lots of little stuff, which, after 19 trips since 1990, I have devised various non-bag methods of comfortably and conveniently dragging it all around the parks with me.
