We are from out of country, so I understand you wanting to get cash and avoiding ATM (I'm guessing ) fees. It's hard to know how much US cash to bring.
My favorite trick when we need extra cash is to buy Disney Dollars at the Emporium on Main Street. When you use them for any amount you get US dollars back in change. We also get points for purchasing them on our credit card. (we pay it off right away).
