What do You Miss at WDW that doesn't exist any more?

That's what I was going to say! You beat me to it. After having been able to go every year since 2001 I haven't been able to make it back the last few years. :sad1:

We keep saying "next year" and then one of comes down with some malady resulting in mega doctor bills and there goes the budget. Last year it was me (cancer) and this year it's me again (as yet undiagnosed). We already know there'll be no Disney next year.

By the time we get back they probably won't even have Cinderella's Golden Carrousel.

Hope you get to go back much sooner than you expect!

I remember the Grand Plan!

They also used to have those meal voucher certificates. I think on their honeymoon plan you would get 2 meal certificates daily.

The parade at EPCOT... what was that called? It was fairly recent; we saw it in 2002.

Main St. Electrical Light Parade. I like SpectroMagic but I miss the music from the ELP!

Food Rocks!

The old Figment

The Diamond Horseshoe Revue. I loved that show. We would sit and watch at least 3 shows every morning. I became friendly with most of the performers and the wait staff. I loved John Charles there. He was the best entertainer they had along with Dr. Bill. They sang together so beautifully.

I also miss Mr. Toad's Wild Ride, the old Journey into Imagination, the World of Motion and the old Spaceship Earth. I do miss Dream Flight. That I could ride over and over again. I miss the old Illuminations at Epcot and the parade there.

But mostly I miss the old prices of tickets and room rates.

I never had a chance to go to River Country.. From what my DD says, I think I would have enjoyed that.. :(

Food Rocks!

The old Figment
Tapestry of Nations or Dreams (both were similar under slightly different names)

For me it would be:
World of Motion
Horizons
The original Journey
Mr. Toads, though I do like Pooh better
Skyway
Discovery Island
Having Wonders of Life open (they had great food there)
The city ending at the previous version of SE
Main St. Electrical Parade (hate the current)
E-nights at MK
River Country
The old early entry at the parks (all parks every day for an hour)
Having 'unscheduled' character meets

That's all I can think of immediately

Though I am not sure why people here are saying they miss having ADRs? I still make them now and then.

I remember when American Express was the official credit card of WDW. AMEX used to offer all kinds of extras - we even had a hospitality room with cookies and beverages and characters one evening. I remember when DS, just two, got so excited to see Goofy that he practically knocked another child down before I could stop him (the kid wasn't hurt). It was embarassing at the time but I laugh about it now.

The houses that used to be on the backlot at MGM - like the Golden Girls house

Tapestry of Dreams parade

Cranium Command

The keelboats at MK (what were they called again? Mike something?)

Garden Galley salad at Columbia Harbour House

Old version of Journey into Imagination

Who Wants to be a Millionaire

I think everyone has already listed all the things that I miss the most. Probably the one change that chokes me up the most though is the original Figment ride with the Dreamfinder. Words can't even express how much I miss that!!! :sad1: In my opinion, it's the single greatest Disney tragedy lol. I have so many wonderful memories from my childhood singing "Imagination" with my dad, etc. It's a shame how they've downplayed the song in the current ride. The whole concept doesn't even make sense anymore!!! I'm a little ticked off in general with the "dumbing down" of Epcot. Heaven forbid kids actually learn something while they're having fun . Maybe I'm just overly sentimental, but I love watching Youtube videos of all the old rides like Horizons (another great one that never should have been removed!), Dreamflight, and Spaceship Earth when it played the song "Tomorrow's Child" at the end... it was so inpiring for me as a kid. Oh, and I also miss the Living with the Land song. gah! Disney, bring back our childhood! lol

A. P. lounge, in Epcot. WE only had A.P. passes for two years, it was fun to go to the lounge and cool off and have some cookies and meet Mickey..

I loved the new Block Party Bash at Hollywood Studios but I also miss the Stars and Motorcars parade.

River country!

The Sky Ride
The old World of Motion
Cranium Command- you're gonna pilot a chicken!
River Country
The old Tiki Room
Discovery Island

I am sure there are others

I agree:headache: but I will stay off my soap box and so no more about it:upsidedow

Just "bumping into" characters

Oh my goodness, that me smile when I read it. My very first trip to WDW when I was 17 ( I am now 51) I was walking out of the bathroom and literally bumped into Winnie the Pooh. When I looked up and saw that it was WTP I almost fainted. I ran back into the bathroom shouting Mom mom, I just ran into WTP. Most of the ladies in the bathroom started smiling because it was quite evident at that moment I had met WTP in person. That same trip the big bad wolf was walking around hugging a lot of teenage girls (Several times my older sister and I received hugs!)

Cheers
Mal

What a fun memory--thanks for sharing it:)

I can't believe I forgot the Main Street Electrical Parade in my first post! It has always been my very favourtie parade.

1-Discovery Island
2-the double decker bus that used to circle the countries in Epcot
3- The Crystal Palace when it was a buffet-not a character meal
4- Liberty Tree Tavern-when the menu was larger and they served you rolls and amazing honey butter -at LUNCH

I was a big John Charles fan. I remember when he started at the Poly in Captain Cooks Lounge, moved over to the Empress Lilly's Baton Rouge Lounge, then to Port Orleans. http://www.keyartistgroup.com/john_charles.asp Click on the promotional video. It brought back memories for me.

I always loved the lavender scent (or was it jasmine?). I miss that attraction so much. I will never understand why they messed with it. :sad2:

I agree with all of your choices. The Empress Room was exquisite. It had real gold in the gold leaf on the walls. We even took the kids there for dinner on the World Vacations and the Grand Plan. Awesome.
Broadway At the Top was wonderful. The music, the talent, the atmosphere. I never got tired of it. We went several times.
I remember 1981 prices. Mickey Ears were $2.25.
