We bought in 1992. That was an unbelievable perk! I believe it ran for seven years, but I could be wrong.I didn't own until later but I wish length of stay park tickets being included, based on room occupancy, was still a part of DVC.
Free valet parking and easy booking less than two months outMy parents were members at OKW in 1994- great childhood memories there.
What do yall miss about the DVC experience from the 1990s?
Yes, through 1999. Unbelievable perk, but also a great sales item!We bought in 1992. That was an unbelievable perk! I believe it ran for seven years, but I could be wrong.
Yes, child care during our visit, a family photo (see my avatar), and ice cream at the end!! It was the best timeshare sales presentation we've ever been to.Yes, through 1999. Unbelievable perk, but also a great sales item!
What I might miss most about 90s DVC (we bought 93) is it truly was a relaxed and absolutely no pressure sales experience. The DVC approach today is different - not as pressure-filled as many other timeshare sales people, but much more than it used to be. Our first visit and review was relaxed, a nice experience, and ended with free ice cream sundaes at the ice cream bar they had at OKW (called Disney Vacation Club then!)......!!
We remember the ice cream bar at The Commodore House, as it was called. I think it was the sales center. We always say that it should have been turned into an excellent quick service area!Yes, through 1999. Unbelievable perk, but also a great sales item!

I think it was originally "Own A Piece of the Magic" but the welcome home sentiment was there.Did the "Welcome Home" tagline originate when OKW was first opened? If it did it makes more sense there seeing as the rooms were so big they do seem like a place you could live and not just be on vacation.
I miss that we didn't get to experience it. I remember in 1991, we made an appointment in the MK to go over to the "new" DVC, but then we decided we weren't really interested and cancelled the appointment. Ten years later we reconsidered and joined-but too late for free park tickets. My parents were members at OKW in 1994- great childhood memories there.
