What do you mean we’re DRIVING from CA to WDW??? With 4 kids!!!!

Lisa thinks fingersticks are the easiest...and she is the pro at them, if they mess up at her appt or her levels are off, she has been known to get 4 or 5 per appt.

Just stopped by on your PTR to say hi! :wave2:

I've gotten past the finger sticks. 4 times a day and sometimes more because I hit the wrong spot and get enough for the machine to read. It's just the thought of needles that scares the heck out of me!! And if Lisa says those are the easiest I'll believe her!!! Love the strength your little girl has!

Baby Update: I did go to the Doctor today and even though my numbers were all over the place she told me to not stress over it and we'll see what happens over the next couple weeks since I've only been tracking for a week tomorrow. She also said if I have to go on medication we'll try oral before needles. I also found out that between my last two appointments I have lost 5 lbs (I think all of it was this last week)!!!! She was very happy with that number and basically said if I can keep my weight the same between now and the last 4 - 6 weeks (when the baby goes through a growth spurt) we should be fine when it comes time to have the baby. But of course if I were to lose a little bit more it wouldn't hurt either (I've only gained 10 lbs this whole pregnancy now since I lost the 5 lbs but I did start out over weight.) I'll be sure to keep everyone posted on how things are progressing.

Trip Update: I think we've finally agreed on where we want to stay. But I'll wait to post that until after I book it. Now to get DH to say book it!! :rotfl2:

I love her strength as well. Because of the coumadin, the fingers bleed 1-2 hours after she is stuck. They have to use gauze and coband to stop the bleeding. One day near Christmas, Lisa was stuck twice on one hand and three on the other and they had wrapped her fingers with alternating red and green coband. (It can look like freddy kruegger at times) and her substitute ballet teacher thought she was playing and told her to take them off her hands because it wasn't uniform code...she was very contrite when she found out. We just laughed.

I trust your doc and she knows what she is doing. YEA for getting to a healthier weight and I know she is watching out for you. GREAT JOB!!!! I AM proud of you!

Poor Lisa! I knew she bleeds longer but I could only imagine having it go that long. At most mine is only a minute (if that). Ok I'm sure that had to have looked funny (in a good way) to have red and green on her hands. Glad the sub understood once you guys talked to her. I probably would have laughed too if I was in your situation. Sometimes laughter is the best medicine.

Thank you!! I trust her too. I actually had to switch Doctor's after my last appointment because I actually had a NP who I loved but since I have the diabetes now she could no longer see me since I was considered high risk (always was considered high risk but even more now). She recommended this Doctor and I'm very thankful to have her. She told me that we will work as a team to find the best way to control my numbers and to not beat myself up if I do have to go on medication and was very positive. I see her again on November 27 so I'm doing everything I can to keep those numbers down and follow the diet plan.

I can't wait to find out where!! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Hopefully I'll be relieving soon!! I'm excited to try the place we agreed on since it was actually some where we considered when we went 5 years ago!!

I am glad to hear that you and the baby are doing well. I am also glad your Dr. is going to monitor the situation a bit longer first. Hopefully your diet change does the trick and you won't have to do any meds.

And YAY for deciding on accomodations! Hopefully you can book soon!

SANDRA! We are on our way out the door, but I just saw Miles on GMA, they are going to highlight his wish...how exciting!!! He is ADORABLE!!!

It sounds like you are doing a great job with your nutrition plan, and look at it this way, even if you can't get the blood sugar under control and have to take medication, its short lived just until you deliver a healthy munchkin ;)
I am a bread girl, can't do without it but it sure does play havoc with a blood sugar, although pasta is worse for me. I can just dream about the taste of a piece of really good sourdough bread from San Fran, its been a long time since I visited family out there and was able to get some :sad2: Years and years ago when airlines had the large cardboard boxes to put dress/suit bags in for protection during travel, I brought home a WHOLE box of loaves of that bread, I froze it and enjoyed it for about a year, rationing it to make it last!

I craved milk when I was pregnant and it killed me to have to limit it.

I'm glad to that the diet is working so far and that I've found what is making it spike. Hoping for no meds to but if I have to I'll do what I need to do to make sure the baby is healthy and fine.

Well I did book today but now DH want's to change it a little bit!!! Gosh darn him!!!! :rotfl2:

Yeah!! I'm glad they are going to do something!! It was so much fun to follow his adventures with the pictures I saw posted online all day today. Brought lots of smiles and tears. Some of my favorites I saw were when you could actually see his face and he was nothing but smiles.

Thank you! I'm doing it and that's what matters. I agree having a healthy baby at the end of all this makes it all worth it.

I'm hating not being able to eat bread. I had a small serving of scalloped potatoes tonight with a steak, bell pepper and a salad (very little dressing) and my number was 141. Highest it's supposed to be an hour after eating is 140 so I know to cut my starch products a little bit more and see what happens. But did really good with both breakfast and lunch (both were under 110).

Want bread? I can send you some. :rotfl2: We don't go often to the city but it's close enough that I can usually talk my DH into a day trip every now and then.

Limiting the milk is fine. I normally drink it when I have cookies but now that I can't have the cookies it makes drinking the milk harder. :rotfl2:

Soooo I said we picked a resort and that I did book it today!!!! Then tonight when talking to DH about it again he said how about if we ...... split our stay between two hotels. :confused3 What the heck! I thought we agreed!! So now to figure out if we really want to do that.

But for now we are booked at the Fort Wilderness Cabins!! Dates are June 15 - June 24!!!!!!! Now the trip feels real!!!!

Yay!!! Congrats on booking!!! I can't believe yourDH mentioned a split stay after you booked. LOL I've thought about doing a split stay, and I know others do, but well... We always love FQ, and I just cannot imagine how fun it would be to switch from building 6 to building 5. LOL

Can't wait to hear if you decide to split or not, and if you do, where to...

That's my DH for you!! He sure does like to throw a wrench into the plans. We've also now talked about some over crazy ideas but I'll save those for later. :rotfl2:

When you find a resort you like why change. And switching from one building to the next yeah probably not much fun. :rotfl:

How exciting that you booked!!:cool1:

I know!! Makes it so much more real and that this trip will happen!!!!

Soooo last night I left you with the thought of where else would we be staying. We talked about AOA and POR and decided on AOA. Before I had a chance to change anything another change was made!!

We are now going to just stay at one place (think it'll be too much work to have to pack us all up and move resorts.) We are now going to be stayed at PORT ORLEANS RIVERSIDE!!!!

I really wanted the room we'd have at the Cabins or AOA but once DH really looked at POR he fell in love with it. We always stay in one room when we go to DL so we'll make it work going to WDW!! But I will say this...... WE ARE GOING AND WE ARE EXCITED!!!

Yay!!! Great update - and great resort! Even though we have never stayed at POR - everyone who stays there loves it! Don't forget to check out Andre's website at www.portorleans.org! :)

D~

For some reason, none if your updates have shown up. At one time, POR was our favorite. I love it's proximity to everything, the boat rides, and Yeehaw Bob. Will you have to get two rooms with 6 people? I know they allow 5 in the buyou, will they let 6 slide or not with the fire laws?

Sorry you had to switch docs. Are you seeing a peri now? I'm glad they are taking extra good care if you since the diabetes started.

Thanks!! We're excited. Even though it'll be a little cramped (I think with the 6 of us) we'll make it work and be fine. I'll check that out!!

No wonder I haven't seen you here. Glad you've seen the updates now. :) Yes we can stay at POR since the baby is under 3 he's not counted. The one good thing about driving is we'll be able to bring our co sleeper (half the size of a pack n play) so that will give us a little bit more room than having a crib in the room.

Instead of a Nurse Practitioner I'm seeing an actual Doctor now. She actually specializes in higher risk pregnancies so I'm glad that I'm able to see her. I go back next week (Tuesday) and we'll see what they say about my numbers then. I've been able to keep them down so I'm very happy with that. Thanks I was kind of sad that I don't get to keep seeing my NP right now but I will get to see her again after the baby is born.

I just came by to show you and your TR some love.:love:

You REALLY need to put your PTR link in your siggie! :cloud9: I am old and need help!

 Thanks! I really need to get an update done but right now just trying to get things ready for us to head out of town for Thanksgiving. We're leaving Tuesday right after my Dr.'s appointment and won't be home until Sunday. Part of me doesn't want to go but at the same time it'll be nice to just get away.

I keep meaning to and well as you can see that hasn't happened. :rotfl2: And your not old!! :flower3:

Good morning Sandra... I know I am a bit early - but I won't have time to do this tomorrow. So, I hope you and your family have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
