What do you mean we’re DRIVING from CA to WDW??? With 4 kids!!!!

Great minds think alike!! I just know I need to watch for specials and deals. I've got plenty of time to figure it all out.

Yes, you have a lot of time to look. I was amazed to see what they charge for leaving the state in your car. It's highway robbery.

I've only priced one and I know the rates will hopefully change dramatically between now and then but it was almost $1200 for 3 days!!! :scared1: I don't know if it's because we want to drive it out of state and return it out of state or what. But I guess I need to start pricing all the options and checking other sites too. We have time to make that decision so we'll see what happens. I'm fine driving it to DL but to bring it all the way to Florida just scares me too many miles.

Wow!! Maybe flying isn't such a bad option?

I agree it is crazy!!

That's what Jeff said too. Maybe we'll fly? If we fly I might be able to add a couple days too. We'll see what happens though. But we're also talking about leaving the 3 older kids home with Grandma (my mom) and possibly going in May when it should be a little less crowded and cheaper. But who knows I really want to bring the kids since we might not be going back to Disneyland until Christmas 2015 (and they really miss Disney, keep asking when are we going back)!! I made the mistake last night of trying to make Jeremy realize just how lucky he is to get to do all the fun things we do (DL, Great America, Gilroy Gardens, the cruise, Visit Family, etc.) and that's when Jeff realized we've already been to DL in 2013!! He was starting to feel bad that we wouldn't be going back until sometime next year!! Darn it!! I think that Thanksgiving trip I almost had him convinced to doing isn't going to happen.

Well it looks like driving is back in the mix!! I decided to price a 2 week van rental and it looks like we can rent a van for under $1000!! Now to find out for sure the limitations on driving it out of state. Enterprise says unlimited miles in CA and NV any other state you have to pay extra. Haven't been able to find the info on Hertz yet but we'll see what happens. Would be nice to have the vehicle for the whole time so if we decided to drive some where we could. Plus the car seats could be left in the vehicle instead of in the room and when you have 4 car seats they can take up a lot of room!!!

Had no idea it cost so much to travel outside of the state. Crazy.

I hope you are able to bring the kids...so much fun and joy all together

Oh man, I hope Thanksgiving isn't out the window. Never thought about the car seats. Have you given off site a thought as an option?

The last amount ($1000) I looked at for a rental was for a 2 week rental. That's a whole lot cheaper than the first price ($1200 for 3 day rental) I found which was renting it in CA and returning it in FL (since we really don't need a vehicle while there.) They charge you a fee just to return it to an out of state location which some I looked at were really crazy!!

I'm still working on that Thanksgiving trip. I think we'll all need it by that point. Even if we just take it a whole lot slower which I'm fine with.

I've thought about off site but really want to be able to use the buses and get the EMH's. We'd really put the early one's to good use since we don't mind getting up early and using that time to do things that will have longer waits later on.

Baby news: Ok so I need to ask for some good thoughts/prayers. I failed my first glucose test last week and now tomorrow I'm having to go in for the 3 hour glucose test. I'm so afraid I'm going to fail it since I'm already borderline diabetic. I'm so afraid of needles and so not looking forward to what comes with being diabetic if I do fail. My family has a history of late in life diabetes so I do have a higher risk of getting it. Thanks!

Not sure why but I didn't get the notification on the post until today. My thoughts and prayers were with you this morning and they still are.

I know that feeling. I've had that happen to me too. Thank you!!

So I went in this morning for my glucose test. They told me to eat a half a sandwich with a glass of milk at 10 pm last night so I did. I got to the lab and had my first draw at 8 am. Then I had to wait. This number had to come back under 95 and well it didn't. So they called the rest of the test off (hadn't given me the drink yet, had to wait for the first result). I was sent home and am now waiting to hear back from my Dr. so I can schedule an appointment with a nutritionist. I was able to get my lab result on line and my number was 100. So I'm hoping that since my number wasn't too far over where it needed to be we'll be able to control it by diet. I'll keep everyone posted on what happens.

So I did get the dreaded phone call today and I do have gestational diabetes. My appointment with the nutritionist isn't until October 31 but I'm going to try to get one sooner (see if going for a late appointment instead of early will get me in). She is confident that we should be able to control it with diet. I will have to monitor my sugar levels but that won't start until after I go to my appointment.

I am sure you can control it with diet, it just takes a little mind work to think about what you eat. Until the appt, practice healthy eating - limit high sugar foods (ie stay out of the halloween candy you have bought to give out ha ha), avoid concentrated sweets, ditch soda if that's one of your guilty pleasures, eat healthy carbs as opposed to white carbs (bread , rice , potato etc), and most importantyl don't sneak bites of the kids foods, finish up goodies they don't finish etc like all mommies do ;)

I just need to remember to limit the sweets. I normally have either one soda or one cup of coffee a day because it helps the morning sickness I do get periodically. I actually don't buy Halloween candy because in the 8 years we've lived in our condo complex we've never once gotten kids that have knocked on our doors for candy. So we now go with friends of the kids in other neighborhoods. That's the one thing I did stop doing about 3 1/2 years ago (I was pregnant with James) is quit eating what the kids have on their plates. I gained way to much weight and it wasn't healthy for me or James! Thank you again for the support and the info!!

You mean to tell me that if you don't have kids come to the door, you can't buy candy:rotfl2: Too funny, I assure you that I buy candy and only kinds I LIKE so when there are leftovers I can have them ;) But there are no children on our street now, they have all grown up and left the nest so its rare for anyone to come to the door. This year, I am not buying any candy, I don't need it!

I like to give little containers of Playdough. It's better for all of us and I love playing with it!

Ok let me rephrase that. I don't buy candy before Halloween (the kids get a ton just from the couple hours we do go out)!! I'll normally buy it after when it goes on sale (and I know what we didn't get going door to door). :rotfl2: This year I'll be trying to stay away from the corner of the store where they put all the candy after Halloween. I don't need it!!

I love when the kids get play dough and little toys. My favorite is the silly putty!! Doesn't seem to be as messy as play dough. It is also healthier for all of us.

After Halloween candy on sale has 1/2 the calories, right? That's my theory, thus why I used to ask for the day after Halloween off from work so I could go shopping :) No seriously, I have done that , I buy a huge amount of candy to use for christmas stockings for 14 people.............or I should say I did! I decided that NO one in my family need it now. They don't seem to miss it at all. I am sure that Walmart misses my filled cart of candy, when I say filled I mean just candy and filled to the top of the cart! Now I work to make money instead of taking off to spend money.

I didn't realize they still make silly putty.

Yes they do. I have a couple eggs still hanging around here somewhere.

I like that theory. :cool1: I've done that asked for the day off or at least the morning off so I could go do some shopping. :rotfl2: Now that I'm a stay at home mom I don't know what a day off looks like. But I'm so glad that I'm able to be here for them anytime they need anything. Now the only work I do is to keep the kids entertained, house clean (but I do let that go to do things with the kids), and find ways to save money so we can keep doing our Disney trips.
